I will be happy if this kid comes, but I do not seem him fitting our greatest need. The Kimberly kid Pav / forecast to Marquette/ is the guy I would want most. UNLV kid is not a perfect need fit either - but again would be a solid add.
I too do not like the 1-5 nomenclature anymore but sometimes it seems helpful when talking about players. IMO, we need two 2’s.

Williams and Pav are my #1 and #2. A big guard who can shoot beats out the smaller guard who can really shoot. I'd be pumped with either as they are both freshman of the year in their conference with three years to play.

Gilbert would be a great get as well, but to me his film fills less of of a need than the other two. Jeremiah Williams and Gilbert are very similar IMO. Gilbert being a more proven shooter.

Our greatest need is versatility on offense and honestly Pav, Williams and Gilbert provide a variety of different things offensively.

Pav is a very good shooter who has pretty much limitless range and can do so off the catch or off the dribble. He also looks to be very crafty at getting into the lane and figuring out a way to score there. He also is a very capable ball handler.

Gilbert seemed to improve his shooting overall from FR to SO year but his game seems to be downhill, getting to the rim, creating for others, but still being able to take and make tough shots.

Williams is a big shooting wing who can put it on the ground a bit and use his size in the midrange as well as finish at the rack.

The best thing is that all three would have 2-3 years here and Gilbert and Williams look like they wouldn’t take long adjusting to playing defense in the Big 12.

Gabe was straight up a great individual on-ball defender.

Omaha was apparently the best on-ball defender at McDonalds, even on smaller quick guards.

My biggest takeaways:

1.22 PPP in spot up shooting... 92nd percentile
1.48 PPP cutting.. 88th percentile

Looks like he can create his own shot, something we were lacking big time last season.

Gilbert and Williams both play in the Mountain West so it is a higher end mid major conference so I like that. Not quite as big of jump in competition

The Mountain West graded out better than the ACC and Pac 12 this year

I just just trying to factor in Omaha and MM, who I both think get considerable minutes.
I think the traditional1, 3, 4 and 5 s are pretty well stocked up.

Hopefully we get guys who can get their own shot and be efficient scorers.

If that means we have 2 PG's on the court great! UConn won an NCAA Title with 2 small guards.

If that means 2 big guards who are just OK 3 point shots, that's fine if those 2 are high% mid-range shooters who can get their shots off the dribble.

All 3 seem like great gets- each a different type scorer. With the talents of Biliew, Momcilovic, Watson and King they gives ISU a lot of flexibility at the 3/4/5 spots.

I’m 100% with you that you do not need a slew of big guards to win the title but UCONN’s smallest guard that played was Joey Calcaterra at 6’3”.

I am going back to when UConn beat ISU on the route to their title with Boatright at 6' and Napier at 6'1" as their guards.

I know it's confirmation bias.. But I agree much more with those than On3's rating. The film for Williams is REALLY strong for a freshman in a conference that was stronger than several P5 ones.

Having Pav on the roster for 3 years would be awesome knowing he has in the gym range. That really compliments a backcourt with J Williams and Lipsey who are unproven shooters.
