IOWA STATE TO BIG TEN?!? Dave Wannstedt thinks so.

*ISU and KU to the B1G

*WVU and ND to the ACC

*Tech, TCU, OSU, KSU to the Pac-12

Each conference sets up four pods of 4 - play your pod every year plus 5 of the other 12 (figure out those details later), plus 1 team from each of the other two conferences, for a total of 10 games, plus two open school-controlled slots for buy games or whatever. And all Alliance leagues agree to not schedule the SEC.

Protecting rivalries, geography, and trying to maximize TV revenue:

B1G pods:
1. Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State
2. Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Purdue
3. Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa State
4. Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois, Northwestern

ACC pods:
1. Notre Dame, Florida State, Clemson, Miami
2. Georgia Tech, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech
3. Boston College, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia
4. UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest

Pac-16 pods:
1. Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State
2. Cal, Stanford, UCLA, USC
3. Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State
4. Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU

Tweet this out, Wannstedt!

If this happens (it won't) it will mean the current 65 P5 schools turn into 64, with Baylor being the sole odd man out who ends up in the American. Even better.

You gotta love message board insiders poo pooing what an actual FOX employee is saying. Lol.

How would he know what the ACC is doing, who has no relationship with Fox?

When the stuff came out about UT and OU to the SEC, it was 7/21. Since it was put out there with solid reporting we had non-denial comments from Sankey, OU, and UT, the same day that basically confirmed they were gone. McMurphy, Thamel, etc. were all reporting that they were gone literally that day.

Wanny said this and from what I've seen there is zero follow up and zero confirmation anywhere else. Either we have something else on this by tomorrow morning morning, or every reporter covering this story sucks at their job or he's talking out of his butt.

HE SAID THAT UT AND OU WERE WORTH 14MM PER TEAM. THAT WAS ON A PAYMENT OF 37MM. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS ABOUT 8 TIMES, I'M TIRED OF PEOPLE MISTATING IT.
Right - and let's take it he's close. That means on the previous media contract the average of the remaining 8 teams would be $23 million. Keep in mind this doesn't mean each of the 8 are all worth $23 M. Then let's realize that ISU and OSU are considerably above the others in TV viewership, and thus media value. So it's very plausible that ISU could bring $30M or more to a TV contract. So you are almost at PAC media per team value already. Now add in the fact that over a 5 year period a team may only end up with half or even less of the media share.

So without even considering any factors like PACN, or a power play to shore up inventory vs. ESPN by Fox, AAU status, etc., a team like ISU could make the math work for the PAC.

I still look at those numbers and feel like Big 10 is a stretch. While I think ISU would be a good fit for a lot of reasons, and would provide a boost in interest, attendance and viewership for some of the midwest schools struggling in that regard, I still think there would be a financial gap in taking on ISU. Hopefully the Big 10 leaders see the potential in investing in a school like ISU.

So you don’t believe any reporting about this then

Good choice

I think the ACC and PAC 12 commissioners both realize they could quickly be put in the same position as Bowlsby. So they want to see the Big 10 do its part to protect the remaining 8 in the Big 12 (i.e. take ISU and KU), and they will also do their part.
Right - you've got probably 8 teams in each of those two leagues that are no more attractive than ISU and Okie St., and both leagues are very ripe for poaching, save for the ACC GoR. To add to that, there are probably 10 teams in the Big 10 that would have no guarantees at all in the event of some breakaway, NFL-light league, and probably 4-6 that would absolutely get left out.

Between the current realignment and NIL changes, there are enough schools and leagues that probably see that CFB is at a tipping point where volume-driven stability now is worth giving up the potential to maximize short term revenue.

CF seems to be gut hooked on this recent news. I'm optimistic because it confirms we're al minimum in the discussion. I've ridden this rollercoaster too many times to get worked up until we get to that multiple confirmation stage.

Boy, the blue check sportswriters on Twitter are absolutely hating on this announcement, which means it is probably a good thing

Im hopeful that the universal negative reaction to this gives the Pac-12 some pause, if they figured this would be good enough for them to avoid lagging behind the other power leagues. Perhaps expansion with Central inventory is still a good thing.

I'd like to think of the B1G taking KU and us as they know KU will bring the room temp brie and wine and look presentable with their little basketball program and MD coats. We'll show up with Busch Light keg slung over our shoulders and get the quizzical looks, but they all know 20 minutes later we'll be holding their legs up for the first keg stands. They know they'll be having so much fun they won't care or notice when we're kicking the crap out of them later at beer pong. Dave Wanstache approves.

What was said in the BIGPACACC alliance conference really didn’t help these rumors. Even went as far as saying they have no current plans to expand.

If they've learned anything over the last month it's that you don't want to give the perception of openly meddling with schools under an existing grant of rights. I'm not sure them saying this publicly truly means anything.
