If prior drug/alcohol issues precluded people from playing, the Hawkeyes would have to find an 8-man football league.
Something about glass houses..... Names like Berryman and Gary are coming to mind.

It is hypocritical, and stupid. And you know the reason is b/c Fred had had more success faster using the transfer approach. But for some of your "fans" to be so clueless as to not know that Allen and Lucious were in trouble multiple times, and that trouble was serious enough and frequent enough to get kicked off a team where you have to nearly murder someone to get the boot, is beyond pathetic.
I'm sure if they were felons Fran would have offered them.

When did Rhoads offer a felon? Enlighten me.Guess Fran and Rhoads have something in common. At least Fran cut him loose instead of putting him in the starting lineup.
Thanks for acknowledging the hypocrisy of the Iowa fans who criticized Hoiberg for taking transfers, then don't criticize Fran for it.
Now, we will find out if Fran has Fred's magic in dealing with these players with baggage. Fred has a good track record of keeping these guys out of trouble, helping them contribute to the team, and getting lots of praise from them when their college careers are done.
If 99% of ISU fans claimed we do things the right way and Iowa is doing things the wrong way you may have a point. Fran is an improvement from Lick but still sucks as a coach compared to Hoiball and the Hawkeye fan base is in a jealous rage so they talk about bs like "doing it the right way". Fran's "right way" is recruiting a 25 year old convicted felon.
Hope you enjoyed getting blown out by Baylor and winning that big home game against Grassy Meadow University.
It's pretty annoying and is thinly veiled jealousy. Fred had done a tremendous job keeping those guys out of trouble. He almost appears to be a miracle worker given the trainwreck that is Royce White.

So, why aren't you on HN making this point? Nobody there seems to be saying anything like this.
Actually, I was one of the people that wanted him gone. But you said Rhoads offered a felon, which isn't true.Same diff. Maybe worse. He advocated for a felon to rejoin the team when said felon committed the felony on his own campus against fellow students not all that long ago. One guy was a getaway driver. The other pulled a gun on students at the university where the man with a say in his fate is the head coach.. I'll let you decide which is worse though I have little faith you can take off the cardinal and gold glasses to actually acknowledge it.
Nice job bringing this thread back to the main point.
As much as EIU fans criticize Hoiberg for his transfers, it is just a matter of time until they attack Fran.

Gary pulled a BB gun (still a felony) on a student. He was suspended (should have been kicked off the team) and served his time. He wasn't a felon when the scholarship was extended.
Hubbard was with a group of guys that beat up and tied up an old man and robbed him. He then drove them away and spent nearly 4 years in prison. Then Fran decided to give him a scholarship and the guy couldn't even make it a couple of months before breaking team rules and getting booted.
Have before. It's the same as dealing with extreme homers here. Impossible to get through to people who only see things their way.
Again, so why hang out here and mostly talk about our players? Why not make at least one post on HN about this situation? Hmmmm.
Again, I have. Honestly your board is much more active. HN is beyond dead and seems to be getting worse with each new day. Very much enjoy your off topic and political stuff. HN doesn't even allow that anymore. And I do like to read up on what's going on with ISU so as to at least know what I'm talking about sports wise with my bro ('01 ISU grad)
Have neither seen your username on the HN thread nor read anything from a non-ISU poster that is criticizing Fran like they criticized Fred for not doing it the "right way."
Rather unremarkable effort on Fran's part. Fran has a long way to go...long way.So Fran is taking a page out of the Fred playbook?
