Iowa new transfer?

I could be wrong, but one difference is that Iowa has a schollie free to give the kid. That's different from already having a full roster, offering a transfer player anyway, and then when he accepts pulling the rug out from a HS recruit who'd already signed an LOI or nudging a current player out the door.

For the record, I couldn't give a Saturday morning crap how Fred runs his program, if you can win with transfers then win with transfers. And have no clue what Iowa fans mean when they say Fran does it "the right way."

But if you're looking for a difference in the two situations, this would be one.

I believe what you're suggesting happened with Kane was a JUCO transfer, not an incoming HS recruit. Nobody knows exactly what happened, JUCO in question is an Oregon Duck now, didn't exactly shatter his life like Iowa fans fantasize about.

Truth is Fran already crashed and burned on a big convicted criminal transfer he really wanted to be a Hawkeye, now this kid has a DUI and is probably transferring so he doesn't have to serve a suspension half of next season. Your fan base is absolutely obsessed and jealous beyond belief that ISU has a successful coach coveted by major programs and the NBA, so they make up garbage about ISU players being thugs.

Who was the guard that transferred? I am sure that fran tried to make him stay, and he was like Scarlett O'Hara at the end of Home With The Wind when he left

I thought it was Nadel in, Okoro out. Kane in, Amardi out, who was a HS recruit.

I can't speak for the Iowa fan base, their obsessions or their fantasies. Thankfully. I have no clue whether ISU players are thugs or not, have never said any of them are. And this Pepperdine kid might be one, but a DUI alone does not a thug make in my opinion.

I like Fran and the direction the program is moving.

Clyburn also made his move because of his pro future and Utah is in bad shape as a program. Babb was also on one of the worst major programs in the nation. The fact that Iowa fans commonly bring Clyburn and Babb up as some sort of thugs shows they have insane jealousy and hatred toward ISU. Their situations are absolutely no different than Uthoff's just Fred is a much better recruiter than Fran so he gets better transfers...luckily we can't bring race into it because they also thought even Scotty was a thug.

But they have tattoos... so they must be thugs, right? How many times have you heard that one?

Amardi was a JUCO. My mistake.

Amardi was a JUCO and signed with Oregon. I agree on this kid, he could be a great kid, he's likely no different than say Allen or Luscious who many of your fans think are the embodiment of evil.

Fran also recruited a 25 year old felon, that's part of the direction your program is going. There's zero room for your Hawkeye buds to cast stones, yet the more Fred wins, the more they do.

Amardi was a one year guy from Indian Hills.
Anyway, the whole debate is silly, like you're kind of saying. Sounds like Iowa upgraded over a kid I don't remember hearing about, so congrats to them.

Gotta love HN before they bring a transfer on campus...saying Hoiberg is lazy for going after transfers while Fran is doing it the blue collar way. Apparently not making the NCAA tourney and bringing in worse recruiting classes is a much more winning strategy?

"The question must be asked what sort of foundation the mayor is building in Ames. Looks a little shaky to me. I'll take Fran's hard work on the recruiting trail and ability to find and keep talented players any day. In the long run, it's much more of a winning strategy."

They have a good point. Having a cupboard full of top 125 freshmen and talented transfers and JUCOs that want to play for a recurring NCAA team is a losing strategy once you look past the winning.

They were right about Scotty.

They already are over on HR. One post over there says this is completely different from Lucious, Babb, Clyburn, etc. situation at ISU. But they don't explain how?

IMO, this is worse than Lucious, Babb, or Clyburn. None of those 3 were in trouble with the law, correct?

Uhhhh ok. You must be a huge fan. Your knowledge of your own players is outstanding. I'm sure Allen was, for no reason, kicked off a team where you have to be busted multiple times with drugs/alcohol before being dismissed. See Lucious and Nix. Pretty common knowledge that Lucious failed drug tests. Anyone who went to MSU knows this.

Really disappointing thread over there. Half of it is debating whether 6'4" 195lb is big enough to play shooting guard for Iowa as if that's even a real question.

Yeah, that is such a lame thread. Debating how much various guards weigh.

Sooner or later, they will have to address the hypocrisy of many posters. Or maybe they will just use the tactic of the troll in this thread who claims he doesn't know what it means to "do it the right way like Fran" even though it has been used commonly in criticism by EIU of Hoiberg's recruitment of transfers with baggage.

If prior drug/alcohol issues precluded people from playing, the Hawkeyes would have to find an 8-man football league.

It is hypocritical, and stupid. And you know the reason is b/c Fred had had more success faster using the transfer approach. But for some of your "fans" to be so clueless as to not know that Allen and Lucious were in trouble multiple times, and that trouble was serious enough and frequent enough to get kicked off a team where you have to nearly murder someone to get the boot, is beyond pathetic.

I'm sure if they were felons Fran would have offered them.
