Iowa new transfer?

You are aware that according to your tweet this guy is going to San JOSE St.and Steve Fisher coaches at San DIEGO St.? While they have similar names, they are certainly not the same school.

beat me to it.

Fran and his buddies seem to be struggling in recruiting for next year right now. I think the last two years of Iowa recuiting will be the best they do.

Last two years? They only had one recruit last year and he had no BCS offers.

Okay the recruting class they had two years ago. I don't think Fran is strong in recruiting, just strong in coaching and putting the kids through basically military boot camp.

How do you know Fran offered?? I haven't read where he did...

He might not have. Baker said Iowa was the first school to contact him and he visited there but who knows. I've never heard of a transfer saying whether they got offered or not

Look at Iowa's best players on their team and their recruitment....

1. Roy Marble Jr.- Not Fran's recruit. 3 star. Was the son of another famous Hawkeye basketball star. Iowa beat out Buffalo, Dayton, Detroit, Fairfield, and Providence.

2. Aaron White- 3 star recruit. Iowa beat out Boston College, Duquesne, Miami (OH), Northwestern, St. Bonaventure, and Temple.

3. Gesell- 4 star recruit. Hawkeye fan his whole life and wasn't really interested in going anywhere else.

4. Woodbury- 4 star recruit. Hawkeye fan his whole life as well. Visited some big time schools, but all along knew he was destined to be a Hawkeye.

And then you have Uthoff, who shunned Fran to begin with and went to Wisky. Then realized he didn't like Wisky and wanted to come back home, so he transferred to the closest place to home in the Iowa Hawkeyes.

So, where does anyone get the idea that Fran is some kind of great recruiter? The only 2 kids he's really gotten that had any kind of national attention whatsoever were Gesell and Woodbury. Both are Iowa kids that grew up as huge Hawkeye fans. Wow... tough sell there Fran.

If you look at who Fred has beaten out to get guys like Royce White, Will Clyburn, Korie Lucious, Chris Babb, Sherron Dorsey-Walker, Georges Niang, Dustin Hogue, Matt Thomas, Monte Morris, and Clayton Custer... then I think you all know who the better recruiter is.

Fred beat out Fran on Niang and Hogue both. Fran did get Gessell and Woodbury, but Fred did not spend much time at all on those two since they weren't interested in playing at ISU.

I can't presume to talk for Fred but are you sure he was that interested in a brittle, 5' 10" shooting guard?

I also heard Woodbury showed up here decked out in Hok stuff. Get back on the bus son, interview is over.

Fred has beat Fran out-of-state at least four times......

It's hard to over-come an in-state tavernhawk family, or even an fb recruit (brainwashed kid) with brains who turns down a Stanford education to play for boring-as# FreeRentz and Rhabdo-Doyle.

It's mindless.

Fran spent about $64 in total (gas and Slim Jims) recruiting Gesell, Woodbury, McCabe. They were full-blown geeky HOK fans from birth. They were coming to Iowa if the coach were Angie Lee

Well we got the best shooter in the nation, top 40 and a top 75 recruit in the nation rolling in, plusa stud of a tranfer, we win again loser.

Past success is not a good predictor for future success with Iowa State because they have an entirely new team every year. If you fail to recognize a 25 win team that returns all its significant players and adds 1.) a top 150 recruit and 2.) One of the best HS shooters in the nation, then that is your prerogative. I just find it funny that a team that has zero NCAA tournament appearances since 2006 is being talked about more heading into next season than a team that has been to the tourney multiple times in a row.

5'10" brittle shooting guards are 6'1" in basketball height. That makes all the difference.

Counting chickens before they hatch, hey bud just because you guys offer someone doesnt mean he will sign. If ISU locked down all of our offered players we would have a top 5 class every year.

Fran has only had three recruiting classes, one of which consisted of only one player. If I were you I would reserve passing judgment on his recruiting abilities until after this class is over. Iowa could very easily put together another top 20 recruiting class this year, and none of the recruits will be from Iowa.
