QB: ISU. Sam looks good. Sometimes looks afraid to make mistakes so much that it limits the offense, but none the less he’s the man.

RB: PUSH. If it was off depth, I’d go with us. However, we still have a 4 way dog fight for carries. Need to pick 2 and go. Bad feeling Weisman will have a hay day gashing out undisciplined/inexperienced d-line.

WR: ISU. Iowa has had quite a few drops already. Talent wise, I like what ISU offers. Whether Sam has time to get them the ball is a different story.

TE: IOWA. While I like Brun and Bibbs, I just don’t see anyone that matches up against CJF (yes I know hes never done anything spectacular, but he still will probably playing on Sundays).

OL: IOWA. Iowa is almost always solid upfront. We got pushed around by UNI.

DL: IOWA. They were in our shoes last year. Young and inexperienced. But I do think our line has the talent to prove otherwise. Looking for Rodney Coe to prove a point against Bazooka Kirk.

LB: PUSH. I know our LB looked bad against UNI, but I look for George to step up this week. Also, Luke Knott to set the stage for his career at ISU. Love his knowledge and knack to be in the right place, at the right time. That said, Iowa’s LB have a bit more time to adjust. But I’ve always thought Morris was way overrated.

DB: ISU. Love the fire from Broomy and Jac. Hope to see SR4 bounce back from last week. Trusting CPR in his decision to start him.

SP: Like Cole, Love Kirby, and excited for Wimbery to be returning.

Prediction: I’m scared to death that Iowa will be classic Iowa; boring, methodical, ground and pound. We suck up, play action over the top. But one thing that I can’t compare, heart. I honestly believe our guys were embarrassed and are hungry to prove to the ISU faithful they are ready to take the next step! I look for much better execution from our offense.

31-27 ISU

Lets see what you guys think! GO STATE!

I think that's a pretty fair assessment. Especially RB, although Weisman has a better chance to own us IMO.

As the saying goes, the game is won in the trenches. And I think Iowa owns us in that category. That's the big part that scares me. I hope our DL steps it up as that is the key. If Weisman goes untouched for 5 yards routinely, we maybe in for a long day.

I'll just say this...if we all know it will be Weisman and company, then I'm pretty sure that Wally knows that too.

If it turns into a QB shootout, ISU wins going away. Hopefully that is the case - and let's face it, Weisman is not a 'shifty' back...he just plows people over. Not speedy, not elusive, just big. So throw a couple guys at him and plug the dang holes...stack the box and make Iowa beat us with their crappy receivers and rookie QB on his first road start.

I'll take those odds.

Yeah. Sometimes that will backfire, and the QB will step up given the opportunity... but theoretically, our DB's should be able to cover their WR's pretty well, so if we're committing guys up front, it will limit their offense and also give us a bit better push in the pass rush as well. Pressure could be key. If we overwhelm their line (with different blitzes and whathaveyou), even if it means leaving guys in single coverage, their QB may not have time to throw.

Iowa LB are definitely better than ours at this point. Strangely I feel our biggest advantage comes at QB and receiver. Go State!

Feeling better about this one day by day. Helps that Iowa sucks. Clearly you'd give them the edge at OL but if that ws such a strength for them they'd have looked better their first two games. I don't think either D deserves to be proclaimed better than the other before the game is played, we can wait on that. And I think we saw a better RB in Johnson than Weisman.

Now I hve thought about it a lot I believe wager will likely be large on this one.

I think Iowa has a much better chance of getting a win in Ames this year in hoops than pigskin.

Richardson better win this game however hes got 3 strait losses to teams that are pretty much the exact same level of Iowa. And being average isn't acceptable from him there aren't 2 NFL linebackers raising everyone on the defense's game. QBs 10x as good as Ruddock are going to come into Ames and rip this D for 3-400 passing and/or a buck or two on the ground if they are runners like belldozer and Sams so he better show that he can go head to head with that if hes gonna be the guy and a W Saturday is a must. I wish I could be more confident in him him getting outplayed by Ruddock is my only concern.

Iowa is Chuck's favorite word, the only way we lose is if we, well, upChuck.

RB- we could have Barry Sanders in the backfield, but if we don't use him, it doesn't matter. Need to set up a real running game with more plays that are not a read option. More carries for the backs than for Sam so that he doesn't get dinged up constantly. Do all that, and I'd give us the edge.

Based on game day performances...

ISU only has the advantage at 3 spots. QB, Defensive Secondary, and punter.

ISU's running backs may have more talent but they need to start producing. Advantage Iowa.

WR's are a push because both groups are equally bad.

LB's Iowa. By the end of the year, depending how our guys develop, it could be a push but right now definitely Iowa.

The rest are advantage Iowa. If Brun were 100% I would have called TE a push but not the case right now.

Defensively, ISU needs to force Iowa to move away from the running game and into a passing game.
Offensively. Just figure out a way to score some dang points. My guess is by attacking Iowa's corner backs.

Id agree for the most part but I think we have an advantage at Linebacker and it really isnt that close right now.

This is what scares me because we know we should have the advantage in the passing game. Similar to the UNI game, but our coaches couldn't figure out how to best utilize this advantage.

CPR said himself that they were trying to use their passing to set up the run. Well that obviously didn't work, and goes against traditional wisdom.

Unless they plan on dropping Sam back 50 times, which with the oline play a couple weeks ago, won't work.

Everyone is quibbling about the RB and LB predictions and ignoring the 58 points he predicted?? Maybe if both teams have 3 punt returns!!

Just kidding...mostly. I'd agree with most of it, but like others have said, we are not close at LB right now. Maybe by the end of the season, but not right now.

We need to come out fast and take them out of their running strategy by scoring 2-3 td's right off the bat. That would place the game in Rudock's hands which is better than in Weisman's IMO.
