Iowa Depth Chart

As would be any starter over the backup.

Iowa's D will be worse than the O.

Seriously? Only one quality WR, OL looks weak and Steele Beathard at QB?

Ott and King are studs I'm sure a few other guys will step up. LB's can't be worse than last year either

We do only have 1 quality WR, but we have two solid TEs that hopefully step up. The OL won't be as good as last year but it won't be a weakness. And we at least will have a true RB in the backfield (Daniels, Canzeri) full time instead of a FB with no field vision.

Ott is a man, King had moments of stupidity last year but still a very good CB. Other than that the outlook for the D is bleak. I think our LBs can and will be worse than last year. We have three undersized guys who aren't all that fast. We're green at DT, though we have talent there it's unproven and if they can't step up our LBs are going to get manhandled by B1G O-linemen all season. Our safeties are bad as well, Lomax has experience but still pretty much sucks.

The O-Line is not going to be good. Sean Welsh is reportedly gone. You lost Scherf to the NFL.

Your DT's had 1 assisted tackle between them last year. Darian Cooper is not recovering well from knee surgery. And Ott will not have big Carl Davis and Trinca-Pasat plugging the middle like last year.

CJ Beathard loves to scramble. I look for him to get injured behind that O-Line.

Yes the line will take a step back, anytime you lose an Outland Trophy winner, it will. But it won't be a weakness. And Welsh was the obvious weak link last year, if he is in fact gone, it's not as big a hit as you think.

And I don't know where you get your DT stats but they're pretty off. Johnson by himself had a sack, 2.5 TFLs, and 9 assists. And that's seeing limited action behind two guys who will be playing Sundays this coming season.

Rumor has it KF has lost the locker room, wouldn't be surprised if more players leave...their program seems pretty fractured now especially since they lost their best QB

Cytwins likes to stir the pot-he has no info, and just waits for responses to his stupid comments like this. Are you going to take the bait?? so proud of him

I can't take it because you took it first.

You really don't know that he is making fun of Iowa fans in that post?

that makes it even better

I think some Iowa fans are pressuring CJB a little too much. He's a gun slinger. He will throw INTs. Probably lots of them. It's what we got with Jantz and it's what Iowa will get with CJB

So the back up QB and back up RBs were both better than the starters last year?

Interview by Ferentz. He says that he expects Sean Welsh to be back, that Welsh is taking care of family problems. Just wondering how long a guy can be away that long from school and football, and how they allow it.

What's even better is hearing about Paul Rhoads kid getting put in jail....so proud!

I'd rather have a practice player in jail for a Public Intox than having my coach having no control of the locker room and putting out January depth charts to keep fans happy.

This was even better.

According to UI police complaints, Christensen, a red-shirt freshman fullback from Belmond, approached an off-duty officer wanting to fight. When on-duty officers arrived, Christensen had slurred speech, red bloodshot eyes, and admitted to drinking at Iowa City’s Fieldhouse bar but refused to take a blood-alcohol test.Christensen then admitted to UI police that he had broken the arms off of a parking gate at the mall’s entrance. UI police called Iowa City Police, who arrested Christensen for fifth-degree criminal mischief.
Ferentz, 19, was heard yelling and observed stumbling upon contact with a police officer, according to the complaint. His blood-alcohol level was .16, more than twice the legal limit for an impaired driver.
This is Ferentz’s second alcohol-related arrest. Last fall he pled guilty to underage possession of alcohol in University Heights. He was fined $314.

Yes, especially at RB. Our starter was a FB who only started because he was the safer play, and KF likes safe guys who cover up the ball. Low risk, low reward. Our guys this year will at least be true HBs with more field vision than MW ever had.

And we already agree that CJB is the better play at QB.

So you really think those guys gave you a better chance to win last year and Kirk had them on the bench?

Can't tell you anything other than the info from recruiting sites. He hasn't played so who knows. 6'4 QB from Detroit who was a 3 or 4 star recruit depending on where you look. I believe Iowa stole him from Rutgers. He's not a flashy guy but it appears he has a nice arm. Throws a pretty deep ball. Regardless, he is a huge unknown like most back-ups.

I went to the practice at Valley yesterday with my buddy who is an Iowa fan and one of the things that stood out to me was how shaky the backup QB was. Better hope CJ is the guy and stays healthy because that backup did not look ready for game action

You sound surprised. Yes. It's not uncommon for KF to opt for guys who are safer or have seniority over guys who have more talent but are riskier plays until he's forced to go the other way. You really think MW was a bigger threat in our backfield than Canzeri or Daniels?

If anybody thinks that Iowa's current 2 deep at the RB position will remain unchanged before the first game, well then they haevnt paid much attention to Iowa football in the past 10 years. My guess, Canzeri blows an MCL in a wake boarding accident, or some other super bro activity, and Daniel's becomes the first person drafted via the selective service to the US military since Vietnam.

AIRBHG gonna AIRBHG

How is playing a certain RB safer? Did everyone have fumbling issues but Weisman?
