Iowa Beat Writers

In the 2020 class, Iowa thought Deuce Hogan was better than Hunter Dekkers. At some point you really have to question their eye for QB talent, especially if no one on that roster is better than Petras.

Again, no photo is going to show proof of anything. It looked like to me that he extended his arm over the goal line with the ball and then it got punched out and he got pulled backwards. I understand why the review wasn't overturned because it was inconclusive. I also understand why ISU fans believe what they believe.

I spend a lot of time coaching kids. Baseball, football, wrestling, etc.

What I tell every kid when they want to complain about calls is, whatever the umpire/ref/whatever called is what happened. Accept it and move on. You may disagree and you might not like it but that's what happened.

I always tell the kids that I coach to say one short sentence to them, keep it clean, don’t get angry, just say something and move one. The refs need to know they ****** up but we also need them to ply the games.

A sarcastic clap along with “great call” is one I like to give to them to use. If they just bottle it up it leads to blow ups, taking it out on the other team in a bad way, etc.

"Ferentz would never stand for a running back that is fumbling but the quarterback is turning it over all the time."

It took me a little while for the pieces to come together, but Kirk’s whining that “the Big Ten would have stopped to take a look at that sideline catch” and “that ball broke the plane in the Big Ten” is truly, richly ironic once you realize the replay booth was Big Ten officials.

Big 12 officials on the field; Big Ten in the booth.

So sorry, Kirk, guess it’s not true that the Big Ten “would have taken a look” at that play or that it “broke the plane” in the Big Ten.
That is the arrogance that is Kirk Ferentz.

  • So arrogant he cannot admit Iowa State University whipped his team fair and square.
  • So arrogant that he refuses to play another QB, despite the fact that his QB and his offense rank DEAD LAST IN THE NATION.
  • So arrogant that he refuses to adapt and evolve to today's style of play.
  • So arrogant that he refuses to address the racial harassment/discrimination that has festered in his program for a couple of decades and will ultimately cost his university millions of dollars.
  • So arrogant that he no longer feels the need to explain his incredibly questionable decisions.
  • So f'ing arrogant.
