They were part of the set that combined to set the national record for consecutive non-winning seasons.

And besides, in the middle of that streak, during one dreadful season, Iowa won the 2nd half of the Ohio State game. I think they were down 35-0 at half and came storming back to make it a game at 35-14 in the 2nd Half. Certainly better than full victory over many teams.
Yes, Iowa went from 1962 through 1980 season without having a winning season. That is 19 straight years. They did finish .500 a few times. Kansas is currently at 13 straight so they could tie it in another 6 years.
