Iowa Beat Writers

For those of you old enough to remember the Hayden Fry era, this is feeling like the '98 season which was Hayden's last. The game kind of passed him by, and that's the same feeling I get with Ferentz. There's still a long way to go for this season, however, so who knows.
Bit of a revolving door at quarterback that season between Kyle McCann, Scott Mullen, and Randy Reiners as their offensive line offered little protection. Could be a similar situation this year.

Good grief I don't know how you can complain about the officiating when they tried to gift Iowa a chance at overtime. Like Big 12 officials have been so kind to Iowa State over the years.

Haha Moss was leaning on X so hard he fell down when his hands got knocked away. Lumping DeJean's unsportsmanlike into the conversation is a load of BS too, Dekkers was well outside the boundary when Cooper decided to shove him. It was text book unnecessary roughness. JFC, it's not even debatable.

ALL of Iowa's losses can be attributed to poor officiating. Ask any hawkeye.

Gotta disagree on this one. I rewatched and he was pretty clearly still inbounds.

LMAO about this article coming out the THURSDAY after the game. Jesus they are insufferable.
If you get a cyclone to feel remotely bad about the win after reading that article, I have some oceanfront property in Marshalltown for you to sell and make a fortune.

Word to the wise as a defender. When the ball carrier is being engaged running straight out of bounds and is almost to the boundary, don't two hand shove him to finish him off. Especially a QB. You're correct that Dekkers was indeed not out of play yet, but it was very very close. To the naked eye, it looked late, especially considering Hunter's entire body was out of bounds except for his back foot.

Yeah he was borderline already out and the player extended his arms and gave the extra shove. If he just puts his hands on him and kinda guides him out without shoving I doubt the flag gets thrown

TOE in freefall

Wow, thanks for educating me, Gazette. I had no idea every questionable call went against the hawkeyes. I guess the Cyclones were lucky that they only were on the wrong side of calls that were absolutely clearly correct.

I don't know how anyone who looked at that second view of Moss hanging on to X's wrist and then falling down in the end zone when X breaks his wrist free can continue to argue with the call with a straight face.

And why are you continuing to ***** about a call that you even agreed was called correctly - sideline toe tap catch? Dude got both feet down - that would have been a good catch in the NFL even.
