Sure it's a big deal. It's not "make or break" as you stated though. If 2014 AND 2015 are weak......then we have problems. I consider 2012 (woody, gessel, clemmons) and 13 (Uthof, Jok) to be solid classes. 14 at this point isn't looking very good. Need to step it up in 15...we'll see. As a previous poster stated....need to see continued improvement, ie a tourney bid and a win or two. Success, especially for a program that was a dumpster fire for 3-4 years, will definitely help in recruiting.

I agree. Lots of teams would love to have Woody, Gessell, Uthoff, and Jok.

In his last two recruiting classes Fran has brought in 6 freshman. 4 of them had Iowa as their only BCS offer. You'd be lying to yourself if you weren't concerned about what Fran is doing in the 2014 class

Fred has brought in 6, 3 top 100 and #125. Okoro gone, the other is Naz. Fred wins.

You do way too much work/research to prove points to people that aren't going to listen anyways.

In all reality, it's not hard to find a schools recruiting classes and their offers. I'm sure we can at least agree that the 2014 is a huge class for Fran to turn the corner

A 7 foot stiff, a 6 foot at best shooting guard, and two complete unknowns.[/Q

Aren't all players really unknown until they start playing in college? Uthoff was good enough to be recruited by Iowa St, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Butler, Creighton, Iowa, etc, etc, etc and all he has done since high school is get 2 inches taller and add about 20 lbs.

Woodbury and Gessell were going to Iowa basically no matter what. They grew up as huge Hawkeye fans. Uthoff and Jok both fell in Fran's lap. We stopped recruiting Jok when he got hurt and Uthoff wanted to come back home as close to CR as possible.

White wasn't a bad get for Fran, but he wasn't highly rated. He did ok with getting him.

Outside of that, he hasn't really gotten anyone to come to Iowa of any significance at all. He was in on Ulis, but in the end I think Iowa ended up being at least 3rd on his list behind Kentucky and Michigan State.

IA has a good base of players that will be sophomores. As much as it pains me to say it. I do think Woodbury will have a good junior and senior year. In my opinion they will be ok if they don't pull in recruits this year but if they don't the next year they could be in some trouble in the future.

I though we stopped recruiting Jok because he was the target of one of the "major" violations. So we had to back off. Could very well be wrong about that though.

He was, and there's a lot of revisionist history in the Woodbury and Gesell were going to Iowa no matter what narrative.
