That season was awesome. It was incredible. I sat in kinnick every home game and knew that they were playing games that had meaning. You guys have none of that. You have no idea what it means to play a game in November that is for a division title. I guess you had a game at Nebraska a couple of decades ago and you pissed it away, there is that I suppose. Ancient history.

ISU beat two teams ranked in the top 5 in the same month last year. That's never been done in a season by either school.

That was worth cheering for.

1. I didn't control any destiny. The ISU football team did if it were actually a thing.

2. I'm not sure if Clone fans think the Hok season was a failure. They like many understood that Iowa wasn't that good that year, and likely made more fun of the media and fans who listed reasons for Iowa getting housed by a Stanford team that is probably still wondering why they even had to play that day since practice was likely harder.

I remember seeing a couple of Iowa's games that year. Nothing to write home about but an average team that plays well together can be more enjoyable for a fanbase than a bunch of idiots. Good example is last year's ISU team with less wins. Generally average team but they seemed to play as a cohesive unit and as close as they were to losing more, they were also close to winning more, which can be exciting. Is that OK?

3. In 2004 and 2005, a couple of marginal ISU teams found themselves in position in the last game of the season to win the North title and lost with two of the most classic ISUisms of all time. The '05 debacle in itself is all the evidence I'll need for when someone on this board yearns for Coach Mac this season when ISU drops a couple of games.

And iowa delivered a beat down to NW. One point, Stanford wasn’t using McCaffery like they did later in the year. Sometimes a team runs into a buzz saw. That’s what happened to Iowa in the rose bowl.

I’ve read that Iowa truly believed their advantage in that game was that they could put physical Stanford on the lines. They got behind so early by so much they couldn’t play that game. That’s football. Still an awesome year. One stop away from the BCS playoffs. They couldn’t have been beaten by Alabama worse than the Spartans were.

They didn't run into a buzz saw. They ran into a team that was better at pretty much literally every position possible that was prepared to play. Nothing more, nothing less.

And Iowa absolutely would have gotten beaten as bad as MSU did by Bama. Bama basically just made sure to get to the next round. They both would have shown they weren't on the same level as Bama, so there's that.

It is hilarious watching these hawk guys post. And it's obviously out of fear.... I wouldn't rule out your program going to the dumpster for a decade or so...old kirkie is getting older...Nebraska and Minnesota have promising coaches...and Iowa State i s achieving success we have never seen. Maybe a decade or so of sucking will teach your fanbase some god damn humility and take you down a peg like we have had to deal with in our program. Enjoy your fake id program while it lasts.
