I'm considering getting one, as it seems like a good cheap alternative to a 'real' boat and I love being on the water. Anyone have one; would you recommend it?

Worth the investment

Sort of. Something like this; https://tinyurl.com/y7drh84b

Looks like you can buy a trolling motor and mount it on something like this

Something like that or exactly like that?

I’ve never owned a boat, but almost every other family member and friend I have had have owned a boat at some time. Don’t skimp on water craft is what I’ve learned from their mistakes. If you want a boat, buy a boat. If you want to be in the water for cheaper, look into canoes and row boats.

Don’t buy something that would work better as a backyard pool than a boat and expect to float very far in it.

Buy a solo canoe.

Unless you're floating around in a place where there's no rocks, sticks, or anything else that could puncture something that's inflated.

I have a canoe with an electric motor that I take on Ada Hayden and other non gas motor lakes and ponds. 2 people is optimal but I've gotten away with 3. Have yet to flip it but have fallen out once when the seat came loose

Yeah if I bought something like this, it would just be used at big creek so I would think it would be okay. Wife is currently telling me no, so now just want to get one out of spite.

I did almost this exact thing. We took it out once at Ada Hayden so I could say "I told you so". Long story short, if you are interested I have a gently used inflatable boat for sale.

I wouldn't buy anything off the internet until you at least saw it in a store. I don't want to rain on your parade, but I think you'll be shocked at how crappy of a boat you'll get for $125. I predict a lot of swamp ass if you buy that boat.

I bought a raft with a buddy and it was awesome, so anything you can do to talk your wife into letting you spend $500 will be worth it. Also, go ahead and add another $500 for beer and ice.

Yeah, I've got a zodiac with a 15 horse evinrude on it. The thing will fly. Hooked into a salmon shark in Alaska and a bull in Florida, For recreation it's better than a wave runner

Isn't a Zodiac a RIB?
