Sounds like the offer is at QB. Lots of good OL talent in this class. I'm very confused why we are waiting so long on offers. As someone else stated, if Iowa can evaluate one thing it's OL. And that seems to be our weak spot every damn year.

They must see something they like, or they are telling him they like him at another position. Haven't heard which it is is, but I'm sure it will come out. My guess (and it is only a guess at this point) is they view him like a AJ Derby. They see him at a different position, but they may give him a shot a QB first if he wants it.

Why does everyone just assume that ISU and Iowa are recruiting the same type of kid? That's not accurate. ISU and Iowa have differences in offensive and defensive styles. The difference in style of play in the B1G versus the Big 12 is pretty significant. A kid that is talented might fit Iowa's schemes like a glove while not really fitting ISU's. I'm not saying ISU doesn't end up offering some of these kids or that they don't fit our scheme but it's pretty obvious ISU would like more time evaluating the talent before making offers.
They offered him as a QB so I'm guessing you're right (feels weird saying that last part)

Actually, the relevant point is more likely just how irrelevant rankings are.
That class is terrible. High schools in Texas have more D1 prospects than the entire state of Iowa.
I can. He's a great prospect as a qb and I'm not sure what other position he would project to. At about 6-1 or 2, probably too short for a tight end, and not a real flat out speed guy so probably not the pure speed for a d-back. The thing is Iowa has at least 1 and I think 2 4 star qb's already, including one in Boyle's class, so that's how much they must think of him. But he's not a pro style qb and he would seem to fit our type of offense much better, at least if Mangino keeps it anything similar to what we've had. I can't believe we haven't offered him already and maybe we still will as his skills would seem to fit better with us and it could be a better overall situation for him as a qb in Ames.
I can.
With Run DLC (Darius Lee-Campbell), we have five quarterbacks on scholarship, and none of them graduate. CPR even said that with this class, it was Darius or they wouldn't sign one at all. So I'm not terribly surprised they haven't offered Boyle yet.
I don't claim to be a recruiting expert, but from watching DLC's highlight reel he's a great runner, but I didn't think he stood out as a passer as far as a d-1 prospect. He may turn out to be a very good or excellent passer, but if not, he looks like a great athlete that could be a receiver or safety with his size and speed, maybe even at the next level. He's also a class ahead of Boyle. Imo qb's like Boyle don't come along in Iowa very often and along with his great running and passing skills, he seems to have that "it" factor the good qb's have, even as a junior. Just don't think we can afford not to offer a kid this good that's 30 miles down the road from Ames, and I think he would fit in our offense better than he would at Iiowa. But maybe Iowa thinks they can make a pocket passer out of him.
Very insightful, Iowa also has a population of 3 million, Texas 26 million. I can't imagine why there's a higher volume of D1 players....
I have to admit,I haven't seen much video on Boyle, and while I'm not a "starsand offers" kinda guy, I find it a bit odd that if he's as good as some of you say, that he doesn't have as much national notice and as many offers as Lazard had a year ago this time. I mean, it's not as if Dowling is any lower profile a school than Urbandale--or quarterback isn't a premium position.

Pretty sure that good offensive lineman fit ISUs scheme.
I recall CPR talking about how they wanted to bring in leaner, more mobile O linemen early in his tenure here. I don't know much about these particular kids but it sure sounds like Rhoads sees a difference he wants or at least wanted in O linemen.I could see this at some positions, but not at OL. QB? Sure, some want mobile guys, some pro style, some a combo. Yet a good OL blocks, plain and simple. Who cares besides that?
You appear to be a Boyle fan. I see what the you and the Hawkeyes like from his 15 min highlights.
2013 Junior Highlights
We need to offer this kid. After more digging, I found info on IrishEnvy.com about Beneventi (the "4Star" that the Hawkeyes offered first). Notre Dame fans were praying for him not to commit or for the ND coaches to pull the offer. Is anyone talking about this on the Hawk boards?
