Illinois-Iowa

RPI forecast only has them with 19 wins...this may be why?

No, I think if you are looking at live-rpi they only update realtime the base numbers. The team profiles take a lot longer to update. maybe at the end of the day. Iowa's team profile will not include the loss to Illinois until later. The front page full rankings get updated in real time. they are the right rankings I believe. Whoever was seeing 39 was getting the numbers from an unupdated site. 39 was before the loss. 46 should be about right now.

And I believe that a loss to Purdue would put them completely out. Their RPI would drop to 60+.

I'm not sure that only one win does much to help their case. A win over a bottom feeder like Penn State, Northwestern or Purdue isn't going to convince anyone. A second win over a team in the top half of the conference would put them solidly in.

You never can know how playing in a neutral-site gym will affect teams but with the way they are looking, I can't see them beating Purdue or Penn State.

There is also no way they could lose to Northwestern but if somehow they did, wouldn't that pretty much settle it?

I mean on rpiforecast.com I've noticed they have one less win than other places show for them. Not sure if it's an error or if they don't include the D2 win and others do.

I don't think D2 count towards rpi, because it would make it way more difficult to track.

If Marquette beats Xavier and Penn St. beats Minnesota that would leave Iowa with 3 wins vs the top 50.

I cant believe that the NCAA's would take an Iowa team that has only 2 top 40 RPI wins. Thats absolutely unreal.

last year iowa had 21 total wins and 9 conference wins, and got passed over. This year they're 19 total and 9 conference.

This seems like the right time to say I'm really glad we didn't get Uthoff.

He is a skilled player (see: interest-Fred Hoiberg).

I'm stealing this from a guy from some other website but it seems to be valid.

When you have the physique and strength of an eighth-grade girl, big-boy BB isn't always going to be smooth sailing.

I think they tanked intentionally.

The EIU fan base clearly established that getting to the NIT championship game was clearly better than losing in the second round. There just trying to make sure they get a chance at another run.

Either that or Indiana's roof is at fault.

Purdue looks horrible at the moment, hopefully they are saving their legs for Iowa.

West Virginia does have victories over KU, Iowa State, Oklahoma, KSU and Baylor. If they win in the first round in KC and then pull an upset in the next round, I would say they measure up well against Iowa

wv's tourney resume is better than Iowa, Nebraska and Ohio St. Iowa is hanging their hat on 5 top fifty wins, anyone with 5 big 12 wins has at least that many.

I want Iowa in the tourney and I want them to play UCLA and Alford and son. That would be a full-kybo worth watching on the second television screen at the sports bar. Fran could spittle on Eddie's hair. good entertainment.

would you put wv over iowa in the tournament

If WVU can get wins over Texas and Oklahoma to add to their resume in KC, I'd say they have a chance. But their RPI is atrocious right now. I'm sure they'd much rather just win on Saturday if they make it to that point anyway and leave no doubt.

WVU's losses to Virginia Tech and Purdue are looming really large right now... Play those games again and they are probably in the tournament.

I just do not like Fran's antics he does to hurt his team, with their resume and non con schedule how are they an absolute lock? If it was iowa state I would say the same thing.
