I just took a quick spin thru HN and thoroughly enjoyed their wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth. They're not as confident they'll make the tourney as many in this thread - interesting info, such as the following:

37 teams with 20 wins in a power conference have not made NCAA (they presently have 19);
Cinci missed the NCAA tournament recently win an RPI of 40 (they are presently estimated at 46-50);

C'mon Purdue - please punch EIU's ticket to the NIT!!!

There's a strange cultural thing about that here. Many of our posters defer automatically to Iowa and give them way too much credit.
Some, of course, won't give them any even when they earn it.

If we just follow the evidence, they've done very little and don't deserve the chance to dance. The tournament, simply put, is for winners.

Was watching the movie Gravity so I didn't get to see the second half. Saw the game winner on the news and that was just beautiful!

This. You think you have seen meltdown at HN? Them losing to Stevie Wonder in the tournament would be epic. We cannot even imagine the roof jumping that would take place. I am all giddy just thinking of the prospect.

You can't expect long-term "learned behavior" to change overnight. Hawk fans refuse to acknowledge they're now the "little brother" in this relationship - I've lived in Iowa City for sixteen years and work on educating them every day...

Can't compare Iowa this year with Iowa last year. Completely different set of circumstances. Can't compare anything to previous years really. It all depends on how they stack up to other teams fighting to get into the field. If those other teams suck, then Iowa is probably in. Seems like the bubble is pretty soft this year so I'm guessing they are in.
