Just to ask this again. Illinois looked completely inept against the press. Fran keeps the press on and Illinois likely throws it away and EIU wins. Instead they back off.

Worst case scenario for Iowa even with a loss in the first round is 10 seed I think.

Round 1, they get Purdue, I think. That's a win, but not a quality one. Unless, of course, Purdue gets some payback for being the only win in Iowa's last 6 games.

After that Thursday play-in game, they will be eliminated. Beating better teams is hard.

I think they will still be in the tourney, but looking at a very low seed now unless they can go on a deep run in the BTT.
However a loss in the BTT opener will give the committee some serious pause if they finish 1-6 down the stretch.

I said it before, and this loss justifies it... This years Iowa team has a very similar resume to last year. The difference? Unwarranted media hype early on getting them in the rankings most of the year.

Rankings don't get a team into the dance, warranted or not.
Quality wins do that. The tournament is for winners.
