Idea for gamedays

Need the city to allow it to happen. ISU as I remember wanted as such, but as the CU game taught us we need to differentiate between a Cyclone siren and a tornado siren. I still think we should do it.

I guess people cannot look out thier window to see what the weather is like, or turn their TV or Radio on when they hear the siren 7 Saturdays a year. Its not like its 1940 when not many had TV. Heck now we have live megga 10000000 watts super 3D doplar HD that can zoom in so close you can count the blades of grass on turf at JTS. Dont forget there is a sky cam on every grain leg in Iowa as well.

Like I said I think it'd be a great idea, but we've had tornados hit near the stadium even for the last home game of the season, I can understand them not doing it. My thought was always a entrance theme with Bachman or someone doing a mock forecast video montage with the sirens firing up and then hitting up Thunderstruck or something alike to the players entering the stadium.

That would be cool. Like the other side of the pillow.

Very nice idea. That might just get exciting!!:yes::yes:

I think they should just build one of those civil defense sirens right on top of the press box. Paint it cardinal and gold and fire it up before every game. It would be authentic, look cool, and would sound awesome.

Too bad Ames has to be Buzz Killington

Right. I assumed that was understood. I would not expect sirens to go off all across Ames every time we scored.

I wouldn't either... but how *****'n would that be? A town so behind their football team that they'd play the sirens across the entire town like before kick off and after touch downs so everyone in town is part of the game...

That'd be sweet

Not that Ames is that kind of town, but it would be cool

The coolest thing I think would be music Megadeth's Crush em'. Then when the team is in the tunnel a siren goes off and someone with a haunting voice says There's a storm a comin' and the smoke in front of the tunnel turns into a cyclone. Now that would be badass! And for touchdowns a windy voice saying cyclone touchdown and for the fourth quarter song it should be thunder struck.

I have an idea. Lets win some football games on gameday. Other than that, I have always liked the tornado siren idea. I think that would be cool.

i think the siren after the first few games would get annoying...hang on...never mind.. i guess we dont score THAT much anyway

Like the Viking horn in the metrodome isn't annoying? Or the the "I don't wanna work" song the Packers and others play after every TD? Actually, I bet it's only annoying to the fans of the opposing team....which is ok.

I've heard A LOT of opposing fans get annoyed with our "That's another CYCLONE.....FIRST DOWN!" And we do that much more than score TDs. But Clone fans aren't annoyed with it, only the opposition. But isn't that the point? Isn't that HOME Field advantage? To make the other team and their fans feel like they are in an intimidating environment?

The fans should just make the siren sound with their mouths. 45K people making a siren sound in unison would be loud and the City of Ames could do nothing

Ok...My philosophy on the whole tornado siren thingy is quite simple.

All i would do is ask the city of Ames is to sound the tornado sirens in the whole city like two min before the start of the game. It would give fans a huge rush to be at the game and fire up the entire team to kick some ***, not too mention the publicity in the town of Ames that its "game time", and if they wanted to use that as the tornado siren test then they could sound it on saturdays at noon whenever we dont have a home game.

I really wish Jaime would push Ames to try and do this. It would be a great move by Pollard not to mention get a whole bunch of more people involved.

The City won't do it. They just won't. And the Colorado game is a prime example why. The odds are likely it would never happen again but when you are dealing with life and death, it isn't worth it. The siren needs to happen at the stadium, over the PA, or by the fans.

Is it too much to ask for a tornado siren to be played every time we score a TD? What do you think? I like the idea.

Use a three stepper: Fire the cannon, blow the siren, and ring the bell. That would wake up the students.

I like the idea of the siren in Hilton. It could be used as a way for people to know when the team is coming onto the court, right before the fight song, and also in various other ways.
