Idea for gamedays

Jeff Johnson helped spread Cyclone Aerobics from the band to the student section, so I think, if we figure out the best time to do it all together, that we could get him to teach it to the masses.

Fixed it for you.

Cyclone Aerobics would look great if everyone else in the stadium would actually get up and do it. Good luck getting them to do anything else.

What we need is a real tornado/cyclone machine....that funnels air and dry-ice into the air like a cyclone when we run out of the locker room....and for touchdowns.

Plus, Cy goes over the the visiting mascot after a score and kicks him in the nuts.

I'm not a big fan of the idea for one big reason. When I went to the Kansas football game last year and watched the stadium "Wave the Wheat" I thought it was the biggest buzz kill of a football environment possible. After every touchdown the whole stadium got dead silent while everyone waved the wheat rather than cheering. Sure it looks cool, but to me it felt like a really bad call was made by the officials. If I were a player from our team I would want it loud after a touchdown. And as an opposing player I think it's more frustrating when the crowd is going nuts than everyone putting up their arms and doing a hand gesture.

I know it's possible to cheer and still do a hand/arm motion but I think a lot of people are too stupid/lazy to be able to do both forms of celebration at the same time. It's the old pat your head and rub your stomach thing, it can be done, but a lot of people just can't handle the pressure.

hmm, good point, what we need is some other point in the game where something like that would be really irritating and distracting to the opposition.

So much for the congeniality award....:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

We need to start winning more games before we get too crazy.

i think we could use the arm motion for free throws, anything is better than sitting down and standing up...especially the gorrilla man we had earlier this year

The "Cyclone Aerobics" are the stupidest thing to happen in recent history regarding traditions in ISU athletics. Every time I see the students doing the dumb lean-forward/lean-to-the-side/lean-backwards stuff I immediately think of how stupid Kansas State's fans look doing their idiotic back-and-forth moron dance. Sorry if everyone else loves it but I won't be taking part in that activity ever.

All of those things look stupid taken out of context, that's why you need to turn that part of your brain off when you enter the stadium. Just yelling when we scored a TD would look asinine if you were just sitting by yourself.

Agreed. When the crowd is doing stupid things, the only ones who look stupid are the ones who are NOT doing it because they're too 'cool' for cheering for their team. If you're not going to support your team, you might as well be at home watching the game on TV.

I am glad to see others that think the student section needs to do more at football games. Why don't students try and bring the cyclone alley leadership over to help out.

Well first you can see a significant decrease in student attendance at basketball games since the inception of CA.

Secondly, apparently the things we already do (aerobics, enjoy being ******** with Sweet Caroline, etc.) **** off the old folks. So I don't think it's an issue of the students need to do more.

And yea that's right, I started up the turn this into students vs. alums thread. We haven't seen one in a while
