Idaho killings

I give a little more leeway to a female in this situation also. I am not being sexist here, but I guess you could say that, because this dude may be scrawnier, but is still fairly tall and bigger than most women. Most women I know don't like to encounter unknown men, when alone at night. As a man, rape is not something I've ever really had to worry much about, if any. It is something that the average woman has to be on her toes about in these weird situations. While it may just be a houseguest, she doesn't know if he is going to come in and try something on her. I've heard that a high percentage of women have been sexually assaulted in their life, being male, it's not something I can relate to honestly, so I am assuming stuff here.

Aren't males, statistically, more likely to be sexually assaulted than females? I'm assuming this is factoring in prison? I could be wrong. I feel like I've heard that somewhere before though.

I don't know. I just know if a dude sexually assaults me, I feel fairly comfortable defending myself. If a woman sexually assaults me, it depends on her perceived attractiveness to me, because if I think she's good looking, I'm doubting I'm considering it assault.

Now prison, I thankfully have no first hand knowledge or experience in that realm so I can not answer that.

Reporting can always be tricky (as men underreport more than women do), and studies vary, but I don't think that's true.

I think who perpetrates the assault would be interesting. Pretty sure that’s going to be men by a landslide.

RAINN gives similar data.

1 in 5 women have been raped/attempted, with 81% experiencing some kind of sexual harassment or assault.

One quarter of men experience sexual violence, pdf (source for that stat) says 1 in 14 essentially raped. 40 something% experience some kind of sexual harassment. Not sure why they represent it differently in the infographic, think they are splitting off rape in the 1 in 14 and counting other types of assault in 25% of sexual violence category.

Well you made me look it up, and I gotta say WOW, it is a lot closer than I thought on sexual assault.

Yeah, I would be shocked if it was less than 70-80%. We're the worst.

about 80% across genders, 90% against women but that's from a 2010 study which also gives much lower assault numbers for men/boys.

Guy does this but left the knife sheath with DNA, was spotted by an eyewitness at the crime scene, and took his phone on 12+ recon missions to the scene including going back the next day. Thinks he's MUCH smarter than he actually is.
Agree. I wish the media would stop saying how ‘smart’ he is supposed to be. He’s anything but. Now he gets to spend the rest of his life in prison.

I think the numbers for males will probably be increasing as years go. I don't think pedophilia against young boys is reported anywhere near the true numbers. It seems as years go, more and more are coming forward. It was considered an enormous embarrassment and shameful to be a male and have that happen to you no matter the age. Why studies from years ago are way more female dominated. I'm far from saying all assaults on females are reported, but I'm guessing that there is a higher percentage on males that are not reported due to society and beliefs.

EDIT: The numbers for similar genders will probably follow the same pattern also. Those that have not opened up about their orientation may hide assaults in order to not have to reveal.

A large number of assaults on children are people who were victims as children.

While some may still shrug off the old “grab them by the genitals” behavior, there are actually significant numbers of people incarcerated for that behavior at NCF in Iowa

I haven't been in the thread for a bit and I don't know how we got to the discussion on this page but are they saying there was a sexual assault component to the murders also?

Well just look at the teacher incident thread. I've had this conversation in there and told that for teen boys, statutory rape via female teacher doesn't really count because they'll screw a hole in a tree.
