I don't understand

Jeremy,

What are your sources telling you? Is a change in the works? I guess I don't see any downside to making the change now and plenty of upside (eg Men's BB). We've got to somehow give people a glimmer of hope to maintain some momentum in FB. I don't see how that can happen under another year with the current regime.

Man, You're a brilliant one....AS IF Pollard is talking to anybody outside of his trusted sources on Mac's job security. If an AD is talking about that crap to anyone who leaks to a source like CF,CR,CN, Whoever, he has no class. Think about it!!!

I am definitely not happy with some of the coaching decisions yesterday but are you guys wanting any reason at all to give Mac the boot missing a few other problems with our team???????????????? LIKE:

1. Stevie Hicks injured?
2. Jason Scales gets injured during the game?
3. Austin Flynn injured?
4. Todd Blythe out with a virus?
5. DeAndre Jackson, our best defensive player, out with injury?
6. Schmelling(sp) out with an injury?
7. The offensive line play(or lack thereof) resulting in sack after sack after sack(or at the very least no time to check down recievers)?
8. Jon Davis getting hurt during the game?
9. D. Jackson's replacement getting hurt during the game?

The list goes on and on and on and even though some of the reasons are coach related, Most of them are not. I was ticked as hell when we imploded yesterday and luckily for everyone, I was outside somewhere where noone could hear the crap I was yelling, but use a little common sense when posting about how worthless our coaches are. Our team needs our support win or lose the last three games.

I for one WILL BE BUYING SEASON TICKETS NEXT YEAR and hope the people who are not going to buy again are the ones I would just as soon shove my foot so far up their wazzoooo that they have shoe strings sticking out their noses the way they act at the ball games. Then their tickets can be replaced with hopefully real Cyclone fans..........:yes4lo:

The North sucks throughout. Mizzou looked bad today. The qb is the owhole team. Nebraska looked bad and was outscored at one point 41-7. Buffs can only beat us if they can score a touchdown. Kansas stinks like the Mangino is sweating. KSU is a weakling who drove off 15 players at start of season.
Put the North out of its misery and let it leave the Big 12. Nebraska has beaten teams with combined record of 18-39. Yuck for the North. Rename it the Mediocrity League.

Yeah I agree the big 12 north is worse than mediocre, but the whole big 12 conference is down this year. Texas and Oklahoma aren't exactly world beaters this year.

These things tend to run in cycles so lets hope its better next year.

Come On Clones.....Upset the Kansas Jayhawks

I will be there to cheer ya on!

Yes...there have been a lot of injuries...but where is the player development?? Every team has injuries, but our coaches have failed to develop the replacements (or the starting O-line for that matter)

It boggles my mind that we can return 4/5's of our O-line or 10/11's of the offensive starters, and be this much worse. They actually seem to be getting worse as the season goes on. For that matter, has any of the coaching staff ever heard of "mis-direction"?? Running between the tackles 25+ times a game is incredibly predictable and unsuccessful

Man, you're a brilliant one too. I was asking Jeremy if he has heard anything and you go off. Typical of you though. I have argued many times with you on the merits of this coaching staff and you refuse to see what is playing out right before your eyes. I won't rehash the record with you instead I will simply ask one question: Why are you so emotionally invested in Dan McCarney? My concern is the overall well being of the FB program. I happen to believe that a change is exactly what is needed to grow this program. Make a FACT BASED argument that suggests Dan McCarney can lead this program to the place where we all want it to be. And yes, I bought season tickets this year and will next year as well. I just don't happen to want to watch another year of DM football. You do, congratulations to you.

Very difficult to understand why we are SO much worse this season. My only guess would be the schedule. Going from A&M, OSU & Baylor to TX, OK & Tech is brutal and this team has been through the grinder so far. BUT, the team knew the schedule was coming. The other tough pill to swallow is the way the team performed in the non-conference schedule. We are thisclose to being 0-9.

Like someone else stated, don't know what else can be said at this point.:oo7dt:

But does anyone really think we could've beat A&M, OSU, or Baylor the way we have played this season? Our opponents aren't the problem. It's the guys in the ISU locker room and in the coaches' box.

actually i was at the game yeasterday. Taking that there was 6 sacks that is a pretty pathetic o-line... but he had time to get rid of the ball its our freakin terrible scheme that we have that our recievers become really predictable and are covered most of the time. Not to mention we had like 7 dropped balls.

I've been saying all year that the defense last year masked the inadequacies of the offense. The defense consistenly not only got turnovers and gave our offense good field position, but they also scored. Leaders, Paris, Moser & Dobbins were enormous hits when they graduated. The defence can't be faulted too much because of the youth turnover, the problem is the offense is the biggest underachieving bunch. If you think about last year, if the offense would have done a better job during the games, we wouldn't have been in the situation where we had to score at the end.

Brace yourselves everybody, the downward spiral isn't only happening this season, but it seems that the future of the program is in serious jeopardy. Anyone taken a look at our recruits? OUCH. Why would anyone want to come in and play for a team that seems to turn Freshman 3 star players into Senior 1 stars? Shouldn't it be going the other way?

BRUTAL SCHEDULE, just what has been brutal about it??? I mean we played one "good" team out of conference (and they lost to Indiana), and we played the "good" teams in the South.

But Texas is not anywhere near what they were last year, Oklahoma is a marginal top 20 team even with AP, TT is bad, and K State is rebuilding with a new coach.

The schedule has not been that bad. It has played out a lot easier than it looked in the pre season. WE JUST SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (33)

And after 12 years THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (16)

Texas isn't nearly as good as last year? Fine, they have one more loss than last year, but it was to the (at the time and current) #1 team in the nation. They're what? 7-1? They may not be as dominant as last year, but 7-1 is still 7-1. They didn't fall off that much.

As for Mac, I've been off his supporter bandwagon for a couple of weeks now. I'm not ready to jump on on the "Fire Mac" bandwagon any time soon, but I am beginning to realize that with recruiting the way it's been now might be the time to make the change. I like the idea of Pelini. Soemone who has an excuse to beat Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa (he was on the LSU sidelines for when Iowa stole the bowl game from them with "the catch," wasn't he?).

I "went off" on you because it is stupid to look for information from Pollard on if he is going to replace Mac, or his staff, or both. Whatever he is thinking, he will make up his mind and whatever happens will happen and I would bet it will be shortly after our last game of the season. If he talks to anyone outside of his confidential staff, or his thoughts get outside before whatever happens happens, then the faith I have in him is gone. For you to assume that he is talking to anyone outside of the group is why I labeled you the brilliant one. This is an event that affects a persons entire future and should be handled as such, unlike leaking info that someone got injured in practice, or some player is going to start in place of another player.

I have been a supporter of Mac but in the last couple weeks, I haven't said a whole lot about supporting him or not. I am not happy with the record we have but I am at least smart enough to know that Mac isn't responsible for everything leading us to where we are at. Did he take Blythe out Friday night and get him so drunk so that the puking virus we heard about was the brown bottle flu???? Did he stage the hit Deandre took at OU to insure ISU loses their star defensive player for the rest of the season????? I think not!!! There is a lot of events Mac does have control of that have not gone well, BUT make a first down, or get a turnover in the play he called and we are talking a whole different story today(OK, maybe a lot of plays). I may be overly optimistic about our team, but you bashers make it appear that we get rid of Mac and our troubles are over. We will still have injuries?????? We will still have underperforming players????? Then who do you go after then?

I want to watch many more years of ISU football buddy, if it is Mac as our head coach, great. If Pollard decides we need a change, whether it be Mac on down, or just assistant coaches, or whatever, I trust Pollard to make the right choice. I have been a Cyclone fan since I have been knee high to a grasshopper, not just since Mac came to town. I have not talked to him that often at all, but I am pretty confident he isn't going out on Saturday's hoping to under achieve and that goes the same for the players. What you have out on the football field are a lot of coaches and even more players giving all they can and sometimes that isn't enough to give us a good season, but that doesn't mean their busting their chops any less. Yes we need to recruit better player, but when they have to hear the crap some of you are yelling at them on the field or typing on the message boards, how do you suppose that helps their performance when all they read/hear is how bad they are and how the coaches they respect are worthless. We are talking about 18-22 yr old kids here, not seasoned pro's.

Man this was way longer than I thought it would be, sorry to babble

The Football Coaching situation comes down to season ticket sales. At this point I just can't see enthusiasm building to hold steady or have an increase in ticket sales. Look at the basketball situation. Pollard fired a reasonably successful Morgan whose team was beginning to play sporadically and left ISU fans less than enthusiastic for the future. With the hiring of G-Mac, fan enthusiasm has been rekindled. G-Mac doesn't have to have immediate success, just show improvement during the season which will build "hope" for the future.

I see the same thing happening in football. We're not playing well. Fans are losing their enthusiasm and have little "hope" for the future. Mac may or may not have lost the team's support but he is definitely losing the fans' support. Mac's buyout is only $225,000 per season for the years left on his contract. Mac will be given the opportunity to step down gracefully. If he refuses, he will be fired. Pollard will find another coach who will generate enthusiasm. He'll continue to create a more fan friendly atmosphere with enthusiasm and "hope" for the future. Pollard will find the right man just as he did with G-Mac. Our coaching situation is all about season ticket sales in football. With Mac, ticket sales will be down. Mac's last game coaching ISU will be Nov. 18 against Mizzou. Count on it.
