Hp Touchpad Firesale

I got mine in about 4pm Sunday, Got a confirmation yesterday, 2-8 weeks is a long time tho!

I got mine in Sunday morning (8/21/11) at 11am and I didn't receive confirmation of the order until Wed 8/24/11, and that's what it lists my date ordered as. Sounds like I'm screwed if you've received a confirmation and I haven't.

actually maybe not. I've heard that info as far order date/time is incorrect online. For instance mine says I ordered the 23rd I think, but I actually ordered the 21st, HP knows the actual time I ordered and that is what they are going by as far as fullfilment goes. I think a Sunday Morning order may get filled, it just might take a bit.

Cool, yeah I just read the FAQ section about the Touchpads on hp.com and they say the dates are incorrect, and I looked up my order and it has the shipping date as 9/2/11. There is still hope!

I've got one of the 32gig Touchpad's and the "standard" HP cover during the firesale. I already have an iPad and while I prefer WebOS to iOS, there are some functionality things I need for work that won't allow me to part with my iPad.

If anyone is interested in an essentially new touchpad, PM me with an offer. I will only sell with the cover, I don't want to try to sell that separately.

Why not wait a few weeks and put android on it?

Looks like this thread might go on for awhile longer ... just got the dear john letter ... your order has been delayed .... could be weeks. Sucks but nothing we can do.

I still haven't heard anything additional on my order.. I was on hold with them for 45 minutes before I finally gave up trying to get a hold of them...

Guess I'll have to try calling them again later sometime...

I am happy don't get me wrong but how can HP go and make more of them just to sell them at a loss? I have to think the suppliers still have excess parts that have already been purchased that they want to burn though.

That article is more than a little misleading. HP is adding a last run of Touchpad manufacturing to fulfill orders they already have. And only orders taken before a specific cutoff date. If your order got canceled you will not get one and you will not be able to buy them at retail even though they are doing a final batch.

yeah thats more sense, along with burning stock of parts that have were to be manufactured.

Sometimes it is the same money whether you make extra units or not. The manufacturer may have an agreement with HP that they get a minimum amount of bucks for manufacturing and it came out that HP may not be losing money on the tailend of the run. That is what a smart company would do.

This is not true I received a e-mail from HP letting me know about the new run of devices, and I never placed a order on their site I just did the notify me thing when more become available. But I did that on the sunday when apparently people were still able to order them.

Sounds like they had commitments to the component manufacturers to fulfill: 1 Million More HP TouchPad Units Coming Before November
