How far can Iowa go?

I think that's pretty likely, just because Iowa is "known" for producing NFL players at certain positions while ISU is still trying to develop that reputation.

Based strictly on NFL production compared to other schools, you could argue that Iowa generally underperforms their talent level.

LOL, nevermind the fact that every metric shows that Iowa is one of the top programs in OUT PRODUCING it's talent level.

Lol. No one is going to draft Campbell higher than Rose because of where they went to school. Campbell will be drafted higher than Rose because he is a better player with a higher ceiling. D2 or D3 players get drafted in the first three rounds seemingly every year. If you can play, they will find you.

Rose is a better college player. Campbell is a better pro prospect. It's not complicated guys lol

When you consider RECRUITING ranking, sure. But you guys like to tout how you get more players into the NFL than almost every other school. Looking at 2021 NFL rosters, Iowa has 33 former players in the NFL. That's tied with Clemson for 6th in the FBS behind perennial powerhouses Alabama (53), OSU (47), LSU (46), Georgia (35) and Notre Dame (34). All of these teams have been in the CFP recently. When was the last time Iowa played in the B1G championship?

Path is never easy in the B1G West meatgrinder.

Just stop. I'm not the one to bring it up but do you even know how many Hawkeyes are in the NFL? One example.......... Tristan Wirfs absolutely is an ELITE level athlete. Drafted higher than any Cyclone player ever. He's just 1 example. The Hawkeyes have had more consensus All-Americans in the last decade than you've had in the history of your program. You FINALLY are going to get some guys drafted in 22 but most likely not in the first round. The longest drought of any P5 team. I get that David Montgomery is a good pro back and had some success and Hall will too. But the talent of those guys doesn't make up for the talent deficit that you have had in other areas across the field. Again, I know you have some talent and some athletes but don't kid yourself into thinking you're sending a superior gifted team out on the field to face the Hawkeyes. You probably do have advantages in some areas but across the board you do not.
Again when was the last time a receiver from EIU caught a pass in the NFL, last time a running back had a carrier? How many starting QB's playing on Sunday are from EIU? I have not mentioned ISU, we have had few players in the NFL, but Montgomery on Sunday ran for more yards and touchdowns that every running back from EIU has in the last 10 years. Lazard has more catches and yards this year then all the WR combined from EIU in the last 10 years.

If EIU is producing such high end talent year after year, then why have they not won a championship in the past decade? EIU produces few if any skilled position talent, lots of Olineman, D lineman, TE's and DB's mostly safeties.

The talent level between ISU and EIU is not nearly as great as your fan base believes. So why don't you and the rest of the EIU backers just head back over to your own board and all dream about how the EIU talent stacks up with Alabama, OSU and Georgia.

LOL if you think new starters don't have a learning curve. Iowa has had 4 new starters on the OL for much of the first 5 games. LT is a RS FR (didn't start last year), RT is a RS SO (didn't start last year), the LG is a TR FR (Obviously never started last year) and the RG has been Britt a lot of the year and he wasn't a starter last year. Shooter is finally getting healthy, so that should help stabilize the offensive line. Lets flip to the Defensive line where we returned 1 out of the 4 starters on the DL. Iowa has 4 Fr in the two deeps that play on the defensive line (Iowa rotates 8 guys there).

Now next year we are going to be returning a TON of these same players. ISU is going to be replacing what 15-20 starters? Lets see if ISU can just put RS Fr and RS So on the field and replace the starters production, I mean they have been "in the system for 2-3 years" they should just jump right in and replace those starters, right? LOL.
Lets look at the age of those EIU players on that Oline.

LT 2nd year in the program back up 4th year in the program
LG 5th year in the program backup 4th year in the program
C 4th year in the program back up 4th year in the program
RG 1st year in the program backup 3rd year in the program
RT 3rd year in the program backup 2nd year in the program.

On defense I would agree that you did not have much returning, but on the OL, EIU had quite a bit, they also had a lot of returning players that were beat out by younger players.

If you are going to talk about EIU football, at least have some clue what you are talking about, instead of shooting off your mouth. Now how about you label this DUMB and just leave.

That’s where the WR and RB talent level comes into play I think. At the end of the day that’s where Iowa’s recruiting and development have held them back or kept them from having seasons where they could truly compete with the top handful of schools.

You are all over the place. A reasonable and rational discussion can be had here. Iowa’s WR and RB talent level has lagged behind other positions on the team. Most Hawkeye fans get that. You started earlier by saying Iowa was beating the Clones with an athletically inferior team and that part is not true. I agree the disparity in talent levels between the 2 schools has decreased substantially. Iowa doesn’t or ever probably will have the talent level of the Alabama’s of the world. We know that as well.

Yeah your RBs and WRs really suck

Jesus Christ, how long are the ignore lists of people that actually try and hold a discussion in here
Pretty long for Twins, once his preseason predictions blew up it his face and was losing face he went and hid.

I never said that the EIU WR were athletically inferior to ISU, I said they were to the Alabamas of the world. What I did say the gap between ISU and EIU is not nearly as large as the EIU fanbase thinks it is. EIU did not out athlete ISU this year, they did out scheme ISU and played mistake free football, while ISU did not.
That was the difference in the game. The athletes on the field were basically equal, which is a shock to EIU fans.

I think Iowa wins as well. Amped up crowd, loud.
I think PSU will have a couple false starts at bad times (3rd downs). I don't think they ever get the ground game going.

Wisconsin is bad, and they had every chance to beat Penn St
