How far can Iowa go?

Iowa is an amazing program. It doesn't matter what happens, they just cruise right long. The low income house incident, Rhabdo, the rape charges, racism, etc..didn't derail them at all.
KF/Iowa FB = consistent, physical, conservative, field position, good kickers, good special teams, mediocre offense & elite defense annually. KF = PR blah, knows NFL linemen/LB/DB identify & prep, QB/RB/WR NFL not so much, Scandel proof by in state media control, respected likable low key, Brian not so much, never disrespects ISU & doesn’t make excuses or whines, Brian not so much
This aged well. They went from allowing 14 PPG to now allowing 21.4 PPG. They allowed almost as many points to Iowa as they have vs their other 4 opponent combined.

7 turnovers? Are you actually impressed with 428 yards when you get 7 extra possessions? The game was over before halftime and it had very little to do with the offense.
It is kind of wild, isn't it? The kind of stuff that would torpedo most programs and captain Kirk and Co don't bat an eye
The dropoff to 3 is steep I think if Cincinnati wins today and finishes undefeated you'll see them in the playoffs
So the offense gets no credit for converting touchdowns? 51 points against a defense that was previously like 15th in the country is impressive.
Iowa’s defense is elite and their offense is mediocre, but it is getting better. Some freshman are starting to emerge as additional playmakers at WR. Goodson is really good. He had a great game against Maryland. Petras is nothing special, but he doesn’t have to be. He’s a good fit for the type of football they play.

Goodson ran the ball 19 times for 66 yards. I think he's been pretty underwhelming this year
As you said, nothing special because he doesn't have to be. That really applies to the whole offense so far. No, there's nothing special about having a 2 play drive for 10 yards and a 6 play drive for 23 yards. After that the game is basically over.
As with the Cy Hawk game, Iowa's offense had a single decent drive early in the game. There's nothing special about that.
So, as far as credit goes? Yes, they get credit for doing nothing particularly special... again. And ad you've pointed out, so far this season they haven't had to do anything special.
Well it is crazy but I don't think they are God. You kneel at the alter of Kirk so who knows what you think.
When/If Iowa commits 4+ turnovers and loses the game, will Iowa fans say the other teams defense is just that good (and is better than Iowa's) or will they say Iowa handed the game to the opponent?

The further EIU offense goes not being special will come back to bite them in the ass. Goodson is ok not great, the same could be said for the Oline. The QB is staring down where the ball is being thrown and it looks like he is not reading the field, but locking on to one, sometimes two receivers on every throw.
The Big 10 West is pillow soft, again no Ohio State on the schedule, so if they can get by Penn. State next week, they should roll, but the further you advance, the offenses get better, and can EIU keep up and win a game against a team that is not turning it over and can move the ball?
They keep the vaunted Big12 offense in check easily. So did Iowa for that matter. Gee, good defense stops offenses, who would have thunk it.

Yeah if Maryland wouldn’t have turned it over 7 time and Iowa turned it over 4 time, Iowa totally lose that game. If ISU didn’t turn it over 4 times and Iowa turned it over 4 times, ISU would have had a chance in that game as well.
ISU fans need to acknowledge (and I am a Cyclone fan):
1) Kirk Ferentz is a better coach than Campbell.
2) Brian Ferentz is a better OC than Herman.
3) Both teams have elite defensive coaches - but Parker is able to teach on the field discipline better. (hardly ever any penalties for silly emotional decisions).
4) Iowa's special teams is considerably better than ISU.
5) Iowa's strength / development program is still considerably better than ISU.
This may be one of Iowa's best teams, and they have a great opportunity to make the playoffs. If we try to excuse their success by listing their off the field problems, it will lead to them continuing to dominate us on the field.
