How far can Iowa go?

I could see anything from 8-4 to 11-1 I'm not sure yet. Whole offense needs to get better and it should next few weeks. We've already played 1 of the best defenses we will play and another in top 1/2. With no offensive improvement we will be closer to 8-4

so you're concerned about a possible 15 yard penalty but not concerned that your QB didn't/couldn't make the throw anyway? Purdy either 1 - didn't throw it when he should have or 2 - couldn't get the ball where he needed it when he did throw. But if you think that 1 fifteen yard penalty cost you the game then you probably can't be convinced otherwise. Also * see post #63 for yardage totals when the game went to 27-10.

Correct. Brock messed up not checking down when he saw Hutchinson not get separation in that timed route......and waited too long for it too open up again. He messed up. Hankins did what he had to when he was beat and grabbed the pants. IMO the only way that set of events changes the game is if Hankins doesn't grab the pants and Purdy hits Hutchinson in stride. Because the play would have gone for more than 15 yards. The penalty negates the interception, but there is no guarantee we score. It would have however continued the drive and who knows.

After all, isn't that what arm chair QBing is all about after the game? You....as a Hawk fan of all people have never talked of the woulda, shoulda, coulda's before? If so......congrats, you are the only one to have ever to lived and be able to make that claim.

I get that. I'm definitely guilty of that sometimes too. I just think the one most determining factor of the game was the play of Purdy. As a Hawk fan I'd like to think the defense played a decent sized role in that but I also know some of it was just on him not executing. I don't dislike Purdy at all. I truthfully really do hope he bounces back and I think he will. He's better than that.

Iowa’s offense hasn’t been very good so far, but they have not had the benefit of any tune-up games. If Iowa’s offense doesn’t improve at all, they are probably looking at 8 or 9 wins. If the offense can just get to average, probably 10 wins.

And with losing EVERY year to Iowa, there's more and more Hawkeye crap for sale - even here in Ames. From apparel to mugs at retail stores, even to Hawk decorated cookies and cupcakes at Dutch Oven Bakery on Duff. This is ON GAME DAY - in CYCLONE COUNTRY.
That is what happens when ISU keeps losing this game year after year....People do NOT want to BACK A LOSER ...I have not seen many people wearing red and gold this week around where I live....

Yeah the Iowa State fan of 30+ plus years is going to throw away their cardinal and gold because of a single fb game after coming off the best 4 years of Cyclone FB. Good grief man.

How sad is it that if Iowa wouldn't play favorites, they are looking at a potential CFP season. I think QB play will definitely limit them though. They have an incredible QB with a rocket arm and incredible speed on their roster, but they put him at safety. Or if they had landed Dekkers, hooboy. Too bad for them though.

Only EIU fans think that a team can continue to win games with its defense scoring touchdowns game after game, while their offense plays not to screw it up.

As usual Iowa, is the Fake ID of college football, but you listen to their fans, its Alabama and Clemson, then a half step behind them is EIU. Only problem is they have won the pillow soft Big Least West just once since its formation, but that is just because everyone that plays EIU gets up for the mighty Squawks, its their biggest game of the year, their Super Bowl to play EIU.
Congrats to you. Of every post in this long thread you are the one guy who is dealing with opponent envy and your post says more about you than it does anything to scorch Iowa. If you want to quote some national sportscast, then why not include what Paul Finebaum said this week about ISU.

I guess because this thread is about EIU, and not ISU. Do you actually think you can win week to week relying on the defense to score and the offense to kick field goals and not make a turnover, that is on you.

So far, the ball has bounced EIU's way, what happens when that stops? You first team running back average 1.1 yards a carry against a Big 12 defense. You know the league that everyone on your boards swears up and down that does not play defense.

You have a good defense, not any better than ISU's, a great punter and what?

I'll worry about Iowa and our chances the rest of the way and you worry about Moo U. Listen, when you get smacked in the mouth and have lost as many years in a row in the series as you have, just lay low. Sounding like a jilted sore loser just looks foolish.

You and Tornadoman sit on a porch in the neighborhood just north of the post office yelling at clouds and whipper snappers looking at your lawn.

Tough guy alert! None of us play the games/are actually on the teams. Fans can say whatever they like because not a single thing that happens on the field has anything to do with the fans. No fan got "smacked in the mouth" Saturday by the Iowa or Iowa State team so needs to "lay low". We'll see how the rest of the year shakes out and stack the two teams up.

Says the new guy with a couple of posts on a rivals board. What are your other troll user names?
