Hoiberg Raise - now makes $2.6M

The only downside is no place to go without being hounded and our best food is Applebees. Don't make the mayor drive to WDM to get some Olive Garden.

I work literally 2 minutes away from Olive Garden. If The Mayor wants Olive Garden, I will gladly drive it up to him in Ames. Seriously, I would drop whatever I was doing to bring the man Olive Garden.

To the poster that is from Minneapolis and claims he has house close to Fred, how does that crow taste? Sit-down son, Fred is here for the long haul!

Although this contract change definitely sweetens the deal for Fred, there's nothing that says he's a guarantee to stay here for the long haul.

Imo he is worth more than that.
It is an average annual salary of $2.6 million. He easily should be getting $2.6 right now. Thank you for the home team discount Fred!

He's smart enough to know that 10 yrs at $2.6 mil >> 3 yrs at say $3 mil or more. If he goes to the NBA someday it will be for the challenge.
$3 million for 3 years is much better than $2.6 million for 10 imo. It is not as though Fred will have trouble finding a high paying job for the other 7. He could easily go back to college and get $2.6.

What crow? His contract and low buyout didn't change one bit. Plus myself or anyone else that thinks he'll go to the NBA didn't say it was happening immediately. He wants the challenge of the NBA, not the money.

I'd feel a whole lot better if this was a brand new contract with a higher NBA buyout.

Fred is everywhere.

Little known fact: he has a series of look-alikes that he utilizes (much like Saddam Hussain did) that randomly disperse his dreaminess across the Midwest. I actually once saw someone that looked exactly like Fred at Jack Trice Stadium last year on the concourse getting his own food. Obviously it wasn't him because a person of his stature wouldn't get his own food. But man, it looked exactly like him.

Maybe I'm missing something, but is winning a title in the NBA really that much more of a challenge than conference titles and final fours at ISU? The NBA is mostly about signing a couple super stars and managing the egos. Building a dynasty at a place like ISU seems like a much bigger accomplishment.

If one is interested in leaving a legacy, that is how you do it. NBA coaches are forgotten for the most part unless you are Phil Jackson. But pretty much everyone knows who Calhoun, Coach K, Wooden, etc are. Hoiberg would fit nicely into that list in another 15 years.

Yes, unfortunately nothing you have said in the past is revealing. Which is why your numerous of "look at me" posts on the topic are nauseating.

There is nothing practical a coach can do to rule out they will not move on. Most everyone knows it is possible, regardless of coach, so why fans would spend so much time arguing that their own coach could leave is beyond rational.

Well it needs to be said again, "I LOVE YOU ALL..."

Where are my numerous "look at me" posts? I simply shared one thing I heard that I felt safe sharing.

I don't disagree with you. I'd have zero interest in the NBA.

Very true. Also why i kind of laughed at the texas\saban talk over the winter how he might want to 'take on a new challenge'.. if he wanted a new challenge he'd see if he could take a program like ISU to the same heights (though at this point, his brand may be enough to attract the kind of elite talent needed)

you heard wrong. I went to Gilbert 25 years ago..I know a lot of people still there and I can tell u without hesitation that CFH ain't going anywhere for at least 7-8 years. What you have to understand is that CFH has said multiple times that he is at his destination job. If he desired to coach in the nba he would be there right now.

If Fred stays we are going to be a contender every year - who would want to leave family, friends, your hometown, and a potential legacy like none other ever?

FIFY. His legacy potential is like none other. No one has his incredible story . . . and it revolves around Ames.

- FRED was in MPLS last Friday. friends saw him shopping in Edina, although in their picture with him he is wearing an iowa state warm up sweatshirt. :)

Southdale or the Galleria? Or that Target Greatland?

(and here's to my lack of going back to the area since my wife moved back to Iowa in 2002, I have no idea what's still in the area, off of France...)

I worry less about Coach Hoiberg moving to the NBA as a head coach than I do as a general manager. Fred is great at identifying and maximizing talent, and he has experience there as well. My $.02.

I guess if Fred wins 2-3 National Championships, i have no problem of him trying to find a new challenge.

Although I would personally challenge him to win 5 Championships
