Hoiberg Press Conference

Oh, FFS. It's not like Fred came over to anyone's house and peed on their dog or anything. College and pro athletics are a business. Fred made a business decision. I get that we all have loyalties, and Fred also does - to both teams.

Fred could pee on my dog all he wants. I would watch, and then shake his hand BEFORE he washed it. Fred will always be a god to me. ALWAYS.

That being said, I agree with everything you said. The people who are so mad at Fred they are completely ignoring everything he accomplished here and are ignoring how he left this program need to be slapped in the face a few times.

I would hope that all of his boys are happy with this decision, and Carol too, but I'm getting strong vibes that they are not all that thrilled with it.

Sure, they are going to support their husband/Dad and his lifelong dream of coaching at the highest level, but that doesn't mean they have to like that decision. I think his boys really like living around Ames and their grandparents too.

I just hope it all works out well for Fred and his family. I hope in this case that the grass is actually greener on the the other side. I just have my doubts.

Vibes? JFC, vibes? So you're Masters and ****ing Johnson, all of a sudden? What vibes could you possibly be getting? What a basis for an argument, ****ing vibes! lol

Hoiberg should never be allowed to work the sidelines in Hilton ever again. He made his choice... it's time to cut ties.

Please enlighten us. All most people see is half empty stadiums and coaches changing teams every 3 years. Hell Chicago doesn't even know the name of the coach they just fired. Is it Tib or is it Thib? They're like hawkeye fans talking about FerENTZ.

Or cyclone fans talking about Rhodes. Or Rhoades. OR Rhodes. Oe Rhoads. Or whatever his name is.

I don't know Fred. If I did I would probably be very happy for him. But since I don't know him my loyalty lies with Iowa state and this whole thing has hurt Iowa state. If this was fredhoibergfanatics then it would be different!

Exactly! My loyalties are all to Iowa State University. I am a proud graduate of that school. I have no loyalties to Fred Hoiberg, and he has none to me.

I would die to have a great paying job at Iowa State. That would be awesome. I couldn't imagine anything better than that. But that's me. Fred did not feel that same way about Iowa State. That's fine. So be it.

But good-bye Fred. You left when you signed with the Bulls on Tuesday. You shouldn't have come back and held a press conference here today to try to explain how hard this was and how much you love the school and the guys on the team. It's too late for that stuff. You made your choice. If you don't like that choice now, sorry, it's too late, you've already made it.

Let's face it, even with the crazy reactions (especially because of them?) this thread is producing some decent comedy.

To all you **** holes that got mad at me, threatened me, and called me names after I said Fred Hoiberg and Minnesota were talking and that Minnesota had offered the job to him.

It took three years, but...

Suck it.

It's clonedude. You could have saved yourself a few minutes of typing by first coming to terms with that.

I just have to laugh at the bitter, creepy vibes some of you put out on here. Believe me, you are not a very good representation of the Cyclone fanbase as a whole. Especially those of us in Ames that have known him for a long time. Cut ties with him? Comparing him to an ex-girlfriend? You are some sad and pathetic people. Maybe get a new hobby? Maybe don't hang out on here so much? I don't know. Just time to rethink your priorities.

Sorry so much that I used a girlfriend METAPHOR to explain how awkward that presser felt to me....But I'll go back in my little corner, rethink my priorities and hope to come out like the shining example of human you so clearly are....

Salary, exposure, level of play is higher than college, step up professionally, tv ratings are insanely higher, do I need to continue? This is a business decision and Fred is an astute businessman, whether it is basketball or his other business ventures. This is a better position professionally than the job title Bill Self or Roy Williams hold right now.

sports is a business. If you don't explore all options, especially if it is to reach a goal you have set for yourself, that is terrible business. to take it personally is petty.

Yes, but for fans sports is not a business. I don't see too many people cheering wildly for the cube jockeys working away at Wells Fargo and Principal.

Being bummed about the future of our program but apathetic to the NBA and what Fred does with Bulls is not hating on Fred.

He might as well have peed on my dog. That would actually be a lot better than losing him as basketball coach at ISU.

And yes, Fred made a BUSINESS decision. You are exactly right. That's what hurts. BUSINESS trumped loyalty to school in this. That's what hurts.

I think we all hoped Fred was "different". That he loved Iowa State more than anything and wouldn't dump us like a Gene Chizik did. But nope, in the end he wasn't any different. That's what hurts.

Not true. Knowing someone that talks to the family, the kids are excited their Dad is the Bulls coach.

If he did, I'd have to think long and hard about washing that dog. That's a conversation starter.

No, but the direct bitterness directed towards Fred is hating on Fred.
