The last 2 times I've actually sat down and watched a lot of a gameday on tv he has had moments where he broke down into complete gibberish. I mean he lost his thought and literally started to babble incoherently. It's getting pretty sad.

Oh boy, I didn’t expect it to be popular but you sure missed every point in my post. Have a good one.
I don't want to get in a pissing match with you but I think you completely missed the points I made in reply to your post and it doesn't look like I am the only one that thinks that. These 2 comments in particular are prime examples of what I was referring to about a lack of respect for someone who has done plenty of good in his life that he doesn't deserve to be talked about that way. He had a stroke for crying out loud, show some compassion instead of questioning his mental capacity and appreciate how he's still out there enjoying life and loved by fans who he loves to interact with and entertain. He deserves to leave the show on his own terms and not forced out. I don't care if it just gets to the point he comes out just for the picks segment to put the mascot head on, he's earned that right after being probably the most popular guy on the show over the years.

Why do people keep saying ESPN is parading him? If LC wanted to be done with Gameday, he wouldn't be on the show. And if ESPN didn't want him on Gameday, he wouldn't be. Both sides see value in him still being on the show for now. There's a reason Pollack does 60% of the on air time for Lee because he could call it quits at any time then Pollack is ready to go full time. Until then, enjoy that Corso still does the headgear picks. For a while I didn't think ISU would ever host Gameday with Lee Corso and we are fortunate we did and he put on Cys mascot head. The only shame was we didn't support it on the field.
Is there video of this because I’ve just never seen it. I don’t get to watch a ton of Gameday because half the time I’m in Ames or on my way but I’ve never seen him just be incoherent. He isn’t super sharp and has to have prewritten points but that’s just part of being old and not being able to hear conversations.
Didn't realize he is 84. I bet doing college game day has helped him stay young.

When Corso does retire/pass on as that may be the more likely way he leaves the show. First, it will be a very sad day for college football. Second, I hope they make a statue of him that they bring to every college gameday set and place it beside Herbstreit during the picks segment. And they do a "pick" in his honor for the featured game and place the mascot head on the statue. Maybe this selection is determined by a viewer poll during the show. Would be an nice way to carry on his legacy and the tradition.
Herb likely has little clout on calling it quits for Corso. Corso brings eyeballs and so long as that happens, each and every TV executive pimp will trot him out for ad money.
There is no compassion - there is only monetization of his commodity.
I like Kirk. Corso is a cliche and a stage prop that makes money for ESPN.
I like him but it makes me sad he's the show clown. When he was fully capable that was a great role, but now it's honestly just kinda sad with his obvious health impacts.
I guess I'll attempt to keep my own house in order and not cast my opinion as to what others do with their lives.

Is it not possible to think someone should not be on the air while also being compassionate?
My dad is getting up there, he had a stroke 4-5 years ago. Fortunately it didn't impact his speech or mind, but it did impact his vision, balance, ability to endure things, etc. I'm happy to take my dad out in public, eat lunch with him, help him out of the car, repeat myself constantly, etc. But there's a HUGE difference between "shouldn't be out in public anymore and want to stick you in a nursing home that they never come to visit." and "being on a live TV show."
Personally, I'm on the fence, I can see merits to both arguments. He's doing what he loves & many people like seeing him. It is also very awkward at times and he does have major limitations.
So long as people tune in and ESPN sells ads during Corso's segment, some people win. I'll assume Corso has an entourage that is looking after HIS well-being rather than ESPN's well-being.

I'm saying this as a man with a 90 year old father who has health issues. You won't have to invest too much time should you adopt him.
