Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

Yes, he has. Even to the point that I started taking some things he said with a grain of salt. As it turns out, he was more right with his insinuations than I chose to believe at the time.

Thanks, I didn't know that. At one time I was a member of his site but I came to realize he's a major tool (in my opinion).

Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

No doubt about it. Paul has always been a huge Mac loyalist. Coupled this with the fact that he never got to the inside of the new regime. He makes some valid points but he clearly is grinding an axe that is motivated by his own inability to develop any relationship with ISU football and athletics in general once Mac was ousted. Paul Clarke is also kinda a weenie if you ever have met the dude. A wimp for sure. (insert crybaby smilie here)

aahhh, Paul is a nerd, and this was a sour grapes article if there ever was one.....I'm glad he could finally tell his story.

Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

Fine to not agree with Paul, but not fair to respond to call him out on a personal level like that.

Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

Paul was a huge Mac supporter. It would have taken whoever was hired after him a lot to get Paul to like them. Chizik didn't care and didn't give Paul the time of day. Paul didn't really hide the fact that he doesn't like Chizik ever and I suspect his beef may more be with JP.

RELAX....I didn't call him out on anything. ( not like his article was calling out Gene or anything either)

I met the dude. I have formulated an opinion based on this meeting. So.......................

In my opinion, I think Paul acts in a manner that is what i beleive to be consitant to what is commonly refered to as a weenie while behaving in a wimp like fasion.

Is that better?

This Hire Has to be an Absolute Home Run

Jamie has a tough task. He needs to find a guy who can keep most of the current players at ISU and a decent share of our current commits. Anything short & ISU FB may be 3-4 years before its competitive.

I am intrigued by Turner Gill. He has done a great job at Buffalo, has Big 8/12 ties, has a history as a recruiter, and has great name recognition. It also doesn't hurt he's African American. At a time when there are only a handful of black coaches among the 120 BCS schools- ISU could make a statement.

I haven't thought too much about coaches but I think JP needs to look at a coach who meets the following criteria:
  1. A coach who is a tireless recruiter, bring quality kids on campus and WOWS kids & parents.
  2. A guy who can do more with less! This may be the most important quality. Facts are ISU will NOT attract 4 or 5 star recruits in quantity. If ISU is going to win Big 12 North Championships it is going to be with 2&3 star recruits and Iowa HS kids that walk-on.
  3. We need a coach who knows defense & special teams. Sure putting up a lot of points is fun to watch, but it doesn't win games. Remember the Walden era. Plus at a time when the Big 12 is all about offense, ISU can be different by stressing defense.
  4. Scrap the spread!!! I am biased- but not many teams with average talent run effectively from the spread.
  5. Recruit the state of Iowa hard. I'm not saying Iowa should be the focus, but we have to have work the state harder than Iowa.
  6. It would be nice if the coach has some name recognition. This isn't a big deal from a football standpoint- but it wouldn't hurt in selling tickets to a fan base that is suffering through some tough times with their FB & MBB programs. It would be great if the new coach is fan friendly.

Some of you have real issues and act like 15 year olds. Paul Clark has done more for ISU athletics in 10 years than most of you will do in a lifetime and he buried some of this stuff in the interest of ISU. He is coming clean now that the Chizik era is over. Give it a rest with the persoanl insults. The guy is upright and speaks the truth.

has done more for ISU athletics in 10 years than most of you will do in a lifetime .

My letter jacket disagrees.

I also don't agree with the premis of obtaining information then packaging it as "premium" through a web site and charging money to ISU fans to obtain it. Especially when it was obtained freely and openly through ISU channels. That is my AXE, I'm done.

Don't kid yourself, Paul has not done more in 10 years than I did in four - let alone a lifetime.

Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

Please focus on the article, guys.

Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

Over the Top! Run your site like a professional and don't jump over the top like a drama queen 15 year old. Focus on the future. What are we going to do now?

Re: Paul Clark lets Loose!

I have never exactly seen eye to eye with Paul and have engaged in some verbal linguistics with him on more than one occasion on his site. Nothing hostile, I just don't care for what I feel is a lot of very faulty logic on his part and his patrons typically share the party line. He does have a unique online "persona" and is very one sided when evaluating things at least it seems to me. I don't mind fan bias, but I expect a little give and take from a guy in his position. I also think his piece (though I avoided reading it for fear I’d have a jerky response about it) flag waving the demise of the Iowa program in lieu of a rape trial and ISU's need to "strike" was in very poor taste.

Now with all that said, he very obviously bleeds cardinal & gold. So even though he is obviously bitter it seems he probably didn't miss to far from the mark on a lot of what he said. It is a tick convenient that he has a platform to speak his mind without much critique, but I read on the Iowa board of all things he hasn't been bashful about expressing his anxt in private. It is also understandable, even commendable that he didn't say it in print before hand. I've always been one to give people a lot of rope on things like this (Chizik) as we are all looking to move up and we don't really no what people are really thinking, saying or feeling. However some of the things that he said, if true make me quizzical to say the least.

Finally and not to be a jerk, but it really does put into perspective how careful we should be at calling other people or situations out when you never know how things might turn for you. Just last fall he was giddy about Iowa’s demise and just last week I had commentary with a few on here about how unethical Iowa's guys are and how great ISU‘s were. My feeling is but for the Grace of God go us all and our fortunes can all turn immediately south in a blink. Have Faith though here, as it truly seems to me like ISU may actually have come out the better in this deal.

Paul's bitter. I'm not sure how you can be a Cyclone fan and not be today with the way this all went down...
