HAWKEYE FAN EXCUSES THREAD

No, I don't expect fans who think they support America's favorite team to say anything rational about ISU. The fans we're talking about are the ones who tend to start with the assumption that Iowa winning is the given, and if ISU wins, then it's some crazy freak outlier. Every time. All it takes when your team loses is to humbly say "good game" and move on. But no, the Hawk fans torture themselves by putting so much energy and volume into their declarations about how they don't really care about this game and how it doesn't really matter to them. It is hilarious watching them whine incessantly like a bunch of beeeeeeeee-yotches about the sheer pointless folly of this game.

Quick side note. The last three isu victories in the series, I've had dreams several weeks in advance predicting the outcome. I'll admit this year I was confident that Iowa would come out on top - especially after the ndsu game. But... The ferentz coached teams have a way of surprising me every week.

It's true that both teams suck, but reading threads that have half a page of comments saying **** the clowns or acting like ISU didn't even belong on the field with Iowa is a joke. Nobody has to offer a handshake or anything, but I don't think saying that those ******* jokers paid off the refs or **** ISUcks are needed no matter how bad anyone is. Oh well, dumb people will be dumb.
 
I just find it hilarious how all of a sudden in the past few years, while going 3-1 against Iowa, I'm hearing more and more from Iowa fans and media alike that "the rivalry has run its course".

So they are raising the white flag? They do have a losing record since that 1998 upset. Maybe our little brothers in Iowa City have finally had enough

Wouldn't be the first time. Whiny ******* quit after 1934 and it wouldn't surprise me if they quit again. That's the only reason this series isn't closer, is because we missed the period of time when Iowa was one the worst football teams in the country.
 
Of course, one of the media members who feels it has run its course is Randy Peterson. But I wouldn't expect anything else from him.
 
The series will end when the Big Ten moves to 12 conference games after missing the College Football Playoff for 5 straight years. Jokes on them as that will just weaken their strength of schedule even more.
 
The one response that I seen on FB was "yeah Iowa lost but let's see what your record is at the end of the year". Come on dude, ISU has a strength of schedule many times tougher than what Iowa does.

It's pretty early and conference play has barely even begun but here are some SOS #s through three weeks (SOS according to Sagarin).

ISU: 20
Iowa: 129
Indiana: 133
Ohio State: 73
Michigan: 102
Michigan State: 10
PSU: 48
Purdue: 65
Minn: 101
Neb: 120
Rutgers: 99
Illinois: 71
NW: 46
Wisc: 50
Maryland: 120

Outside of Michigan State they've all had easy to insanely easy schedules, they've all beat nobody except freaking Washington State, and now they mostly play each other from here on out.

Dead last out of all divisions and conferences within the power 5 and independents.

Just imagine when last year's final weeks are removed week by week in favor of just 2014 results the next 3 weeks. They're going to possibly be passed by AAC and MWC divisions.

I LOVE the SuperBowl excuse! Because ISU was the one playing an injured Scherff and Ott? Clearly, the Squawks thought this was a bigger game when they thought they needed to play two injured guys in hopes to win.
 
Haven't even read yet but I'm sure there are plenty of Iowa States Super Bowl comments. I just love hearing the whining *itches (JM especially) crying this morning and again wanting to dump Ferentz and the coaching staff. It's just too bad the Smocks got hot at the end of the game against Ball State because they should of lost that game. The SPOCKS talking big crap at the beginning of the season about a 10 win season. Ahhhhaaaaa... I just love it and there isn't anything better than the morning after Cyclones beating the Spocks in football.
 
For Iowa fans, there's always stages of denial when they lose to ISU. Blaming Kirk Ferentz is on its way out and now it is blaming the refs. Give it some time then they'll move onto stage 3.

Stage 1: Blame Kirk Ferentz/Coaching
Stage 2: Blame reffing
Stage 3: Claim it's Iowa State's superbowl (which they'll use this excuse until the next time ISU-Iowa plays)
 
The Superbowl excuse doesn't make sense because Hayden Fry made sure it was Iowa's Superbowl during his tenure. Nebraska was always my Superbowl to boot.

Despite KU, Colorado and ISU all looking horrible to not so great, the old B12 North would still have 50% ranked teams right now. There were admittedly some down years for the division, but the B10 west is a crazy pillow fight as evidenced by the fact that it's ranked below both ACC divisions, it's only going to get worse as this becomes less 2013 data and more 2014 data. Plus with the 7 team divisions they dodge FIVE teams from the other division as opposed to the old Big 12 just dodging 3.

Big Ten is going to be hammered by SOS and computer ratings for an entire non-conf based on beating just Washington State.
