HAWKEYE FAN EXCUSES THREAD

The clowns still stink, there was a combination of favoritism from the refs benefiting them, and many lucky bounces. I do propose however that the series with the clowns is discontinued until the the officiating situation is corrected.

Iowa fans' excuse of we are so bad you shouldn't feel good about your win makes me laugh. As well as the "when will we stop losing to ISU, we should never lose to them" is just as crazy. These fans are stuck in the 80s and early 90s. ISU fans in the late 70s and early 90s felt the same way about losing to Iowa.

The last 20 years is split 10-10. Since the streak was broken it's 10-7 ISU. And Ferentz is 7-9 vs ISU. They refuse to accept reality regardless of how many times ISU wins the game. Which really shouldn't surprise anyone.

I would agree with this, except they could say the same thing about us. How many times have you seen "Rhodes" referenced on here?/

No, the difference here is that we play in a real conference, while Iowa ends up in pillow fights for most of the remainder of the season each year. At least they had one poster reference this earlier in that thread.

He never did compare the rest of the seasons after this game. If he did he would be surprised.

Are you looking to hear from Iowa fans that isu is any good? The team will have to earn that respect by beating a few decent teams this year, and finishing with more that three wins for that to happen. Until then, Iowa fans are taking this outcome as a reflection of how bad the hawks are, vs how good the clones are.

I'd settle for all Iowa fans to accept what has been obvious to anyone with a brain for over a decade now. It's not ISU's 'super bowl', we simply play in a drastically better football conference and now with a 9 game round robin where we can't dodge anybody.

Your conference is dog $hit 1-10 vs major conferences and ND and 0-3 vs Big 12 despite playing a majority at home.

Iowa will win more games than ISU because there are 2-4 more wins on its schedule as any rational person could see. That's what I want, for your fan base to accept obvious reality. Repeat, not Super Bowl. Repeat Big Ten is $hit. Repeat Big 12 schedule is brutal in comparison.

All of my inlaws want Kurt Furuntz drawn and quartered. They had nothing but praise for ISU, which was somewhat surprising. We bash CPR, and in reality, I'm not sure how good he is, but at least he makes great halftime adjustments. ISU exploited Iowas ****** linebackers in that 2nd half - was a thing of beauty.

Quick side note. The last three isu victories in the series, I've had dreams several weeks in advance predicting the outcome. I'll admit this year I was confident that Iowa would come out on top - especially after the ndsu game. But... The ferentz coached teams have a way of surprising me every week.

Oh yes the our team isn't good so why is it a big deal your bad team beat us excuse.

The fact remains that EIU fans NEVER give credit to Iowa State for having the superior team. It's always something like "their Super Bowl" or "wait to see the final records" or a myriad of other phrases. They would rather talk about how terrible they played as long as they don't have to admit that Iowa State has the better team. Say anything but don't say that ISU is better. It shows the lack of class that we all have come to expect from EIU fans.

No Split, my point is that it is very possible for Iowa to make the B1G championship game without being a solid team at any point of the season.

Assuming Nebraska is the quality of "Barely topping McNeese State at home" this year, Iowa can hit 7-1 in B1G play without beating a single quality opponent.

If Wisconsin trips up twice along the way, Iowa wins the West playing as well as they did yesterday all season long.

Front Page of Paper: "End-of-game reboot seals ISU vicotry over UI"
Front Page of Sports, above fold: "Netten nails a do-over"
Front Page of Sports, below fold: "ISU reboots, Iowa freezes up"

A 'reboot' never happened... only one kick happened in that game.

Washington State is the best win of the 14 teams. The American, MAC, and MWC all have a better win % vs power 5 conferences than the big ten, unless you don't count the big ten as power five, then American and MWC are still better but MAC winless against real power 4.

No I think Rhoads and Rhodes is just an accident name w/ two spellings for same phonetic name. Kurt started out as a mistake then some not fond of KF embraces it as a joke, it actually is kind of funny.
 
The Hawks have moved on from this obvious aberration. Hawknick is predicting a 35-3 win over Pitt, same score he predicted over ISU....

B1G is truly that bad.

Playoff this year will be SEC, Pac-12, Big 12, ACC. It is almost predetermined. The only potential alternative is the SEC lobbying to get two teams in and the media (ESPN) pushing hard enough to pull that off.

If Florida state falters I could support 2 from one of the best three confereces, otherwise it'd be a shame for PAC or big 12 to get bumped. There are three clearly best leagues that should have at least one team among the four. ND, BYU and perhaps Marshall are much more of a spoiler role than the Big Ten now. Big ten should factor in the same way the MAC factors in.
