Hawk idiocy at its finest...

Man I wish I could track down the CF thread where some Hawk fan went over to a USC board incognito to prove that they didn't dislike Iowa fans and they started ripping on them hardcore. That was hilarious!

In Dec.2002 (2003 Orange bowl) a-hole Iowa fans flooded the USC boards with lame Hickeye smack....which carried over to obnoxious Hickeye behavior in South Beach, then onto the field with Iowa players (Fred Barr & co) talking smack all game as UCS thrashed the Hawkeyes

UCS fans hate Iowa fans.

Iowa goofs did the same exact thing to Texas fans a few years later leading up to their bowl game.

Iowa fans have been abusing Notre Dame fans on their boards for years.

Do you think those Iowa jokes in general from Minnesotoans are directed at ISU folk?

Nope. Those jokes about Iowans stem from legions of low-rent Iowa fans descending on the Metrodome and Mall-of-American every other year.

ex 1.) Iowa fans trying to carry out a goal post through the Metrodome's REVOLVING DOORS

ex 2) That soccer mom tramp getting drilled by that ugly Hawk dude in the MetroDome mens room, as her husband was sitting in the stands.

It's amazing Iowa fans compare themselves to those schools you mentioned too. Iowa fans and their media are the biggest wannabee's in college football, with their complete obsession with Nebraska the last 12 months.

It's laughable, all of you goofballs creaming your pants over a 'rivalry' with Nebraska that doesn't exist.

Another contrived fairytale. Kind of like the contrived "Hawk's Nest" Alford conjured up. Always loved to see 200 U of Iowa students showing up for a MBB game. Real intimidating seeing that group who rareyl had anything to cheer about, then stayed away in droves

Nebraska always played Oklahoma on the Friday after Thanksgiving, then developed a pretty good rivalry with Colorado when they didn't play Oklahoma every year.

So was it Iowa or Nebraska that wanted to play the game on the Friday after Thanksgiving to a national audience and start a new rivalry?

Who compared Iowa to Texas, OU or Nebraska?

As for the Nebraska rivalry, it already exists. It's not a fierce rivalry by any means since they hadn't played that often and won't be a great rivalry unless it's fairly competitive but it will never be "just another game" for either school. I would say the same for Wisconsin and Minnesota as well. Those games are just too important in terms of recruiting for them to ever be meaningless.

Unless Iowa comes out and punches NU in the face the first few years this will indeed be just another game on the schedule for NU. I'm in the Siouxer and live and work amongst NU alums and fans every single day. They had one rival, OU, everyone else they simply expect to beat. Regional rivalries aren't the same thing as football program rivalries. NU is not worried about recruiting against Iowa either.

A couple of years ago, USC fans were one of our biggest supporters after we upset Penn State @ Iowa.. maybe some do "still" hate Iowa but I find it hard to believe that many care after how long it has been since the game and the fact that we don't play them and aren't very relevant to them..

Everyone hates Notre Dame.. and Notre Dame doesn't care about anyone else.. this isn't an Iowa thing..

Your example #1 I find to be hilarious.. I would have been frustrated and embarassed to be on the other side of it however.. but I don't see the issue with that one

What's the point of example #2?

False. We recruit some of the same kids every year.

I agree regional rivalries aren't the same thing. I also agree that the series has to be competitive in order for it to ever really mean anything to Nebraska. Only time will tell on that front. I don't think it will ever compare to the OU/Nebraska rivalry simply because those were two huge programs going at it usually for conference championships ala OSU/Michigan. That said, I think it will be a lot more of a rivalry than the NU/CU "rivalry" ever was.

And you've beaten NU on how many? Because you recruit the same kids doesn't mean NU will sweat competition from Iowa. Like I said; until Iowa beats NU there is no rivalry on the field. Until there is a rivalry on the field there is no recruiting rivalry.

They'll have to do it consistently too. Nebraska's arrogance makes Hawk fans look humble.
