hawk fb program headed to the bottom

^ ^ ^
Not a Hawk fan

That was me picking apart your argument that because of our recent success in getting into the NCAA tournament and (usually) advancing to the Round of 32, we're now a basketball school. No dude, that's not how it works. Want to know a few basketball schools? Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, UConn, Syracuse, North Carolina.

Iowa State does not fit into that group, I'm sorry.

You could make a case for maybe Indiana or UCLA but that's pushing it.

I won't call Michigan State a basketball school because they have had a lot of national success in the last decade in football and calling them a basketball school would be disrespectful to their football program.

But once again, Iowa State is not a basketball school and Iowa is nowhere near being a basketball school.

You said Iowa was on the verge of being a top 25 basketball team. Nobody in their right mind that wasn't wearing black and gold colored glasses would think that. Their recruiting was been terrible lately and they only have 1 good player this year

I still believe we'll see Iowa in the rankings sometime in the near future. The neat thing is that TIME WILL TELL. Come back to me after a couple of years and we'll see if I'm wrong. Predictions and guestimations do nothing for me, especially not the ones that come from you.

Which is why you are a Hawkeye fan. I don't know anyone outside of Iowa City that thinks that. There is no point bogging down this thread anymore so I'll let you continue your act with someone else

Mwh. I wonder when would be a good time to go long WTI and Brent. Maybe $60 by this time next year? What say you?

I'm guessing ferentz loses his job after nightmare he created a quarterback for next year and the demise of hawk football will be complete.

I'm with you bro. You nailed it

Seeing as the coaches have ISU at 19 and Iowa as #33, that doesn't seem that far off. How do you go from getting boat raced this weekend to talking about basketball already? Let's stick to the season at hand.

Iowa was not in the top 25 at the end of the season and won't be in the top 25 preseason. They only have one good player so yeah I don't know many people who aren't Hawkeye fans who say Iowa will be a top 25 team

He's only wrong on the ISU growth part. He's pretty much nailed the Iowa stuff so far.
Well, let's review:

My goodness their roster is full of below average players. Most of their players actually looked pretty good this weekend. Defensively, they held us to around 70 yards of offense and everyone is in agreement that we are better than last year. So he is wrong there.

They play in a terrible division this would be false as well. The B10W has actually looked pretty good all things considered.

NW just beat a ranked team.

Wisconsin is a bit down but will still be solid. They played well against Alabama for well over a half of football. All with a new coach and mostly a new line. They will be fine as the season progresses.

Minnesota narrowly lost by a small margin to the B12 champion who is believed widely to be the B12 overall favorite this year and Minnesota isn't picked to win the West. What does that say about the B12?

Illinois is currently getting votes and has looked good so far. I'm not sold on them long term but it is what it is right now.

with hardly any good games on the schedule.
It's actually looking better each week. Several ranked teams should be on the schedule now

Add that to ISU'S continued growth and another win this year over them in football and it's a clear sign of where their program is heading. It was very clear this weekend.

I'm guessing ferentz loses his job after nightmare he created a quarterback for next year and the demise of hawk football will be complete Ferentz won't be losing his job and that nightmare he mentioned turned out to look somewhat genius. In fact, next year, Iowa should probably be even better.

I think most hawk fans see it coming. That's why they are trying to give away tickets now. It's rather funny. A win Saturday and the stands should be full most of the season. the Pitt game will be close to full.

Now, by mid-November, which stadium will still be packed and which will need a tarp?

Starting out a point by arguing the Big 10 west is a good division? That's tough enough but especially when you follow it up by pointing out more losses than wins. That doesn't set off any alarms for you?

Hawk fans want Kirk fired, that's not debatable.

And even with a 3-0 start you concede that Iowa won't sell out and then talk trash about a team that hasn't been very good at all and has sold out two games already this season.

Iowa is playing a different brand of football than they have under Vandeberg and particularly Rudock. It takes awhile for people to leave, and it takes awhile for people to come back. But the stadium will have 65+ this weekend, and if we win we'll beat N. Texas and start 4-0 and be ranked in the top 25. People will come, oh yes Ray, people will come.

So beating ISU was all it took to reinvigorate the Iowa fanbase?

#superbowl

I'd say it's not losing to putrid teams out of conference. Conservative Kirk no more. Playing the guys who should play, not playing his favorites or out of seniority. And again, the fact that in 2 weeks we'll be ranked in the top 25 again.

You said Iowa was on the verge of being a top 25 basketball team. Nobody in their right mind that wasn't wearing black and gold colored glasses would think that. Their recruiting was been terrible lately and they only have 1 good player this year

amazing....
