Harbaugh already beating Iowa

Iowa State Fans = most realistic fanbase - we know we suck
Iowa Fans = most delusional fanbase - we are great program, in spite of our continued mediocrity, just look at the mid 90s
Nebraska Fans = most arrogant fanbase - we are far superior to all other programs, just look at the mid 90s
Kansas Fans = most pretentious fanbase - we will not dignify your program by acknowledging it exists

The last time Iowa beat Iowa State at Kinnick, Todd Lickliter had coached their most recent basketball game. (And Greg McDermott ours.)

Uh....I think the majority of Hawk fans admit that the FB team is mediocre.

Maybe, but they also think they are "just one good player" or "one assistant coach" away from being a top five program and therefore worthy of being in the same discussion as the elite programs in the nation.

I was and am excited about the Harbaugh hire. Hoping for a miraculous turn of short-term success for Iowa under KF is about as braindead as a person can get. Not going to happen. I'm resigned to acknowledge that we are going to suck as long as he remains our coach and GB remains our AD. Losing a decent RB recruit to Michigan means nothing to me, if it serves as another small chip in the KF/GB armor. If Harbaugh can bring UM back to being an elite program, that only benefits the conference. In the meantime, I can hope that our new president will bring different expectations with regard to the football program than SM has, and will be influenced to mirror the steps other B1G schools are willing to take to elevate their programs.

Gary Barta is the problem in Iowa City. The athletic program, as a whole, has taken a nose dive. Replace him and KF will be the first in line to go.

Here is a recruiting article from yesterday and even they referred to Iowa as a "developmental program".

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...lean-on-iowa-prospects-for-15-class/22878477/

"As a developmental program, it typically takes at least three years to know where Iowa hit and where it missed in any given recruiting cycle."

Not really a dig on Iowa. The Hawks are a program that have to develop their talent because their recruiting classes aren't stellar. Kansas State is a developmental program and they have won the Big 12 recently.

Iowa State needs to get there. I remember when Wake Forest was pretty good maybe 8-10 years ago (too lazy to look it up). Almost all of their starters were 5th year redshirt seniors or 4th year redshirt juniors. That's how you can compete with schools that bring in better talent year after year.

This is so delusional it's not even funny. Last year people were claiming Iowa fans think we're an elite program. That's complete BS. I've had season tickets to the Hawks with a group of 8 people. No one, absolutely no one, thinks Iowa is an elite program. Every single one of us is sick and tired of the conservative philosophy Ferentz continues to employ. Every single one of us admits Iowa is nothing more than mediocre at this point. I don't hear any Iowa fans act like the Hawks are anywhere close to being elite.

I have no idea what makes you believe Iowa fans think we are one good player or coach away from being elite. That's just ridiculous.

Completely agree with this assessment. Iowa has always been a developmental program. They need a couple under the radar recruits to end being diamonds in the rough, and they need the rest of the players to develop into solid contributors in order to field an above average team. They can't get by with one or the other. If you look at the years they've been the most successful they've had a mix of both.

You are the exception to the rule. The problem with having your huge bandwagoning fanbase is that all Iowa fans get lumped into the same category. Delusional morons.

It is not typically the season ticket holders that are delusional as they see first hand the product on the field. The majority of the delusional Hawk fans are the ones who have never set foot on campus or inside kinnick Stadium. They buy into the media hype like this year when media members were throwing out the expectations of a 10-2 record and divisional title.

Your ringleader of your fanbase had Iowa going 10-2 with ISU's schedule, including a win over Baylor

The point is that just like in every fan base there are a lot of reasonable fans. Just like in every fanbase there are delusional fans that think that every year is the year they are a lock for the national title game. The question really comes down to the ratio of the former to the latter and how visible and vocal the latter are.

Exactly, and when the most vocal guy is JM and he is as delusional as it comes it makes your fan base look stupid. If CW came out and said we were going to win 9 games this year I'm sure Iowa fans would have a field day with it

I could find a lot of examples where that isn't the case. Just look up any of Stormin or Mesa's posts. There's thousands of them.

Two ISU guys posting 'thousands' of times vs. thousands of Iowa idiots blabbing all the time.

I'd say that opinion is shared by about 2% of the fan base......and's that's being generous

Most think we're in a dire need for more talent and need classes rated better than the mid-fifties.........by contrast, many cyclone fans over on the football board are touting your mid sixty class as the best ever for rhoads and the recent defections as a "much needed" cleaning of the football house.

Not surprised. The problem with Iowa fans today (who are clinging on to the Hayden/Snyder/Alvarez days) is that they cannot grasp the connection of your mid 50s recruiting class and where the Iowa program is today. Mid 50s.
