Reason #47 why I didn't understand Hawk fans being excited about his hire

Meyer, Harbaugh, Franklin, and Dantonio are head and shoulders above any other head coach in the conference. Luckily for Iowa (and Wisconsin, and Nebraska, and Minnesota), all four of them are in the other division.

I was and am excited about the Harbaugh hire. Hoping for a miraculous turn of short-term success for Iowa under KF is about as braindead as a person can get. Not going to happen. I'm resigned to acknowledge that we are going to suck as long as he remains our coach and GB remains our AD. Losing a decent RB recruit to Michigan means nothing to me, if it serves as another small chip in the KF/GB armor. If Harbaugh can bring UM back to being an elite program, that only benefits the conference. In the meantime, I can hope that our new president will bring different expectations with regard to the football program than SM has, and will be influenced to mirror the steps other B1G schools are willing to take to elevate their programs.

I would hope your new president wouldn't be dumb enough to expect more out of a guy who's already played in so many January Bowl games.

This paragraph sums things up pretty well for Iowa football...

With that said, Higdon's decommitment is a dagger to an already-lackluster class. The top four recruits in this class are all offensive linemen, only one of which received a four-star rating from any recruiting service or an offer from a top-tier program (James Daniels). Top-notch skill position talent, already so obviously lacking from the current roster, is simply not coming to Iowa. With the loss of Higdon and continued ineligibility of Smith, Iowa completely struck out on one of its most important priorities in this class. The Hawkeyes' coaching staff is going into a make-or-break season with no other option but to cobble together a running game from five guys who couldn't beat out Mark Weisman. It's a disaster. There's no other way of putting it.

It is not as if running the ball is important to Iowa's offensive strategy.

Think they are about to air it out over there, Greg Davis style.

Iowa will have a great line that will be marginalized by average position players. They'll beat teams who can't stop the run, and will get run over by athletic teams. Luckily, they play in the Big 10 West, so they'll probably make a bowl game.

sorry to ruin your bashing fun,but it looks like we picked up a nice replacement from Alabama-Eric Graham. Better measurables than Higdon. Guess time will tell

I'm sure the staff was hoping their priority RB recruit would flip so they could land their fallback recruit nobody has heard of

Why would that ruin anything? I wasn't bashing, I was being honest.

It's funny ISU fans talk anything football....

Or a Hawk fan feels the need to post on an ISU message board. Even better that said Hawk fan gets his panties in a bunch about a negative comment towards his Hawks.

Seriosuly, NLI day and you are on a Cyclone message board to see what the Cyclone fans have to say? I may be in the minority but I just do not get it.
