H.S. students troll Wieskamp

I don't get it. Is he an undersized stretch 4 playing against small town talent who translates to a large slow shooting guard at Iowa? I mean... I guess that's the 1 postion they currently don't have a plodder at and Fran needs his plodders.

I just don't think he improves them at all. Like @CyTwins said... he's not a PG. And freshman outside of the top 20 aren't typically impact players unless they are some sort of unguardable matchup (which he isn't). Babb or Wigginton or Lewis are all capable.

I will go on record as saying he is not a plodder. He has decent quickness and a good first step and will be one of their quicker guards next year (not saying a lot). Can he hang with Wiggi . . . No, but his skill/speed would match up OK against Babb. Babb's experience wins that battle though. He is a pure 2 or athletic 3. Does nothing for their pg issues except relieve a little shooting pressure from JorBo. I am not sure how good he is at setting up for others as he IS the option in high school.

Weiskamp is good but I'm not sure he's the best player in the state, he just doesn't have anything around him so he's able to put up big numbers.

AJ Green and the younger McCaffery might be better but they're both on really good teams where they don't just hunt numbers all night. You'll notice Weiskamp's lack of a state tournament appearance...

Green is going to be a stud next year and will make UNI a real force

Looks like Wieskamp is all ready for his Super Bowl next year. He sees ISU gear in the stands and has one of his career nights.

Backcourt help is on the way.

I do think Weiskamp will be a good player.
But is he hawkward enough for Fran?
He looks more like a UNI player so maybe you are right.

No. Have seen them play with the Barnestormers multiple times. Weiscamp is by far the best player in state and it's a shame he is going to Iowa. The younger McCaffery is a good player. Green can play but Weiscamp is next level.

I still see most Iowa fans saying the PG will be fixed by both little Frans and Wieskamp. Even if all 3 are great D1 players are they really point guards? There are some grumblings that Connor is not a point guard now, but the majority is still that all 3 of these guys are John Stockton in waiting from what I see they all look like wing players or small forwards in college.

Maybe the coaches aren't falling into this but their fans still are.

Not the Iowa fans I know. Connor is the only one viewed as a PG.

What I'm seeing recently is just move Lonzo Jorblo to 2 guard.

Just like that the team's defensive shortcomings are doubled.

Who could ask for more?

What Fran needs to do is get some of those awkward boys out of the program and bring in a couple of grad transfers at guard to help them be competitive. But much to my delight, they won't. #rightway
Oh and they will never really be successful as long as he is coaching on game days. That dude is clueless. I hope this Joe fellow is just good enough to get Mad Fran a contract extension.

Green just got bumped into the top 75 on 247 and Weiskamp just got bumped out of the top 50. I think they are a lot closer than you are saying

I don't think they are. I have seen them both a ton of times. Green is good. Don't get me wrong but If Wiescamp played for Mac Irving or one of the big dogs. He would be ranked top 25. He is that good. When I saw the Barnestormers play several times. Wiescamp was always the best player on the court. Minus when they Played Zion. Zion is much more athletic. Joey Hauser and Wiescamp were always 1 and 2. Wiescamp being 1. AJ was the third best player on that team.

I don't think he's strong enough to survive a full season of college basketball. He will fade down the stretch like that goofy guy Iowa had that Matt Thomas shut down in the 2nd half a few years ago.
