Jeez, I don't think I will ever understand the hate for the Ghostbusters reboot a few years ago.

It was completely fine and I had a good time. The ending wasn't great but it was a dumb comedy and they almost never are.

And the humor they did have was often too dumbed down. The humor of the original was often a lot more subtle.

You mean like when Akroyd got a blowie from a ghost? I mean that **** was real top shelf stuff that pushed the boundaries of comedy.

Same here...I don't think it's hate for that movie per say...it's the fact they wanted something else as a reboot similar to the old, but with the new technology we have. Instead they were given a totally different movie and the reboot became the lightning rod. Something along those lines...but who knows.

People ripping on the reboot just because of the gender thing is really stupid.

I just didn't think it was very good which was unfortunate because the actresses they had are generally great. It just came off as forced.

True. I remember thinking that Ghostbusters 2 was terrible when it first came out, but I totally changed my mind, and now consider it a classic.

Everything was off with that movie, the humor, the tone, the way it was shot, the characters, the story. It was just a bad movie through and through. I knew they missed the mark the minute I saw the first trailer. On the contrary, I'm super stoked for Afterlife, as I finally feel like they are finally on the right track to what a sequel to Ghostbusters should look and feel like. That doesn't mean it will be good, but at least I'm liking what I see so far. I only watched the first trailer and not the recent one as I have a one trailer rule for myself.

Ok, I caved and watched that new trailer. Wowsers I couldn't be more stoked for this film. This is everything I want from a long-awaited sequel. I am a monstrous Ghostbuster fan.

First reactions are in and they are very good. This is my #1 most anticipated movie of the year.

Unfortunately now that is the version you see Ghostbusters on cable or premium movie channels. The original is never on TV anymore.
