Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Jeez, I don't think I will ever understand the hate for the Ghostbusters reboot a few years ago.

Same here...I don't think it's hate for that movie per say...it's the fact they wanted something else as a reboot similar to the old, but with the new technology we have. Instead they were given a totally different movie and the reboot became the lightning rod. Something along those lines...but who knows.

All I remember is a bunch of pathetic incels ripping it apart in their safe spaces on reddit way before the movie was even in the theaters. Oh well. Life moves on.

I'm a pretty huge fan of Kate McK and Wiig and didn't like it simply because it wasn't funny to me. Forget men or women, they casted some pretty funny actors and forgot to put them in a funny movie. Reminded me of Phantom Menace in that it was a long awaited reboot that had a great cast, bad plot/script/dialogue/direction.

Right, it was a garbage movie with funny people in it. Some of us saw it coming a mile away. My wife never even finished watching it, she was bored and fell asleep. It was a poor attempt at a popular franchise with zero of the charm of the originals.

Its complicated. There are two groups of people who hated that movie. People who hated it for being a bad ghostbusters movie, without any of the humor and charm of the original (it wasnt as bad of a movie if it wasnt in that franchise), and then there's the toxic groups that railed on about it being "diversity" or "too pc" , much as those groups have done with some other movies lately (captain marvel being another one that comes to mind).

And the humor they did have was often too dumbed down. The humor of the original was often a lot more subtle.

That's true, there were a bunch of people who hated it simply because it had women in, which is unfortunate. Then there was the rest who didn't like it because it was a bad movie. I don't understand how you can have that many funny people in a movie and have it suck, but it happens. Look at Grown Ups. With that many great comedic actors you would think it would be the funniest movie ever and it SUCKED!

Looking forward to this. A little skeptical of Finn Wolfhard though, and it is a pretty big jump in location logic to have this begin in an old farmhouse in Oklahoma.

Finn was fantastic in IT and he’s great in Stranger Things

Starting to look better! And if that’s not the perfect place for the last landline phone to exist, I don’t know what is.
