Gene Chizik Comments Rumor Thread

I can't believe he was asked about this after the game and didn't go off on the reporter. I know how mad I was yesterday after the game. If someone had asked me that I may have went Mike Gundy/ Denny Green on that reporter. Gene did a nice job of keeping his emotions in check IMO.

I would like to believe that he will be successful. But what signs do we have that the program is on the long road to success?

The upgrade in talent, how many first year players do we have in their first year of college ball? We have more returning lettermen than ANY TEAM IN THE COUNTRY... Not to mention alot of teams are getting hit hard by graduation next year, we are not...

BOY HOWDY!!!!

So why did we create a thread fueling this rumor? All your going to do is further melt the meltdown that is occurring...

Its amazing that people will reference the rumor, saying it has no legs and is implausible, than continue to speculate several more levels of garbage into it...

That several of the players from Chizik's second recruiting class are better athletes than their equivalents from the whole twelve years of Dan McCarney's tenure.

That's what you call a sheer upgrade in talent.

From what I've seen, the "what he said" has been taken out of context from what he actually said. If he actually said it. I can see his comment about his kids, and and ruefully saying it might not be bad to still be UT's coordinator. That is hardly the same thing as saying he "regrets taking the job".

One thing I always respected about McCarney is that when he realized what deep doo=doo he was in in Ames (worse than Chizik has it), he just rolled up his sleeves and worked harder.

Funny, I could see Chizik saying, "Man, sometimes those ingrate know-it-alls on message boards make me really regret taking this job!"

I'm guessing the guy who "broke" the story is going to find that he has fewer "friends" in the business now. Especially ones who will confide anything to him.

Hopefully, we can drive a wooden stake through the heart of this soon.

I think this is all a case of Bad Reporting. That's why journalists need to have multiple sources to talk about a story. This Brian Esteridge is an idiot. It was irresponsible for him to mention it on the air. He probably thought it was no big deal because he's in Texas. Why don't we let this Brian Esteridge know what we think about him? 103.3 FM ESPN Dallas - Fort Worth - Contact Us - ESPN Radio

I was told by a rival radio host that Esteridge said he hates working at that radio show and Baylor fans. And he wish he never took the job with Galloway because he doesn't know what he's talking about.

As I said in the first post - the threads were becoming very numerous and it's in other media outlets, even in the state, so it's not my job to censor everything that is out there. If you don't like it, don't read the thread.

I think this is a mountain out of a molehill. I love my job but are there times I've told people that is sucks? The answer is yes. I don't think Chizik would be human if he did not second guess himself about taking the job when times are tough. We all play the what if game from time to time. He may have vented about how tough it is to win at ISU but I am sure that is all it was.

There were about five different threads that were started and deleted about this subject over the last two days. While it was not being reported elsewhere, we kept it off of CF out of respect to the athletic department. Now it's better to just let people talk about how ridiculous it is rather than than to give it credence by hushing it up.

After being a #2 in organizations a while, I wanted to be a #1 so bad, that I took a position that had 3 execs come and go in 18 months, and I thought I could turn it around.

After 8 months of hell, I think back to how much I enjoyed being a #2. Turning a division or a department around is much much easier than turning a whole organization around. They are totalling different jobs. As a division or unit leader, you can focus on outcomes much easier, as a #1 you are focused on managing all the division leaders. And people think **** rolls downhill, but it really rolls up.

I have faith in Chizik, but his job is harder all the way around. Blowing the game yesterday was a major blow to the fans, to the team, and to everyone else in between. How Chizik and the team responds now will be a true measure of where we are headed. Do we fold, or do we keep fighting.

The interesting thing about this is that at the presser he acts like he never heard anything about this.

Then he says it's a joke.

BUT he didn't go on to say how he loves coaching at ISU and that he's perfectly happy in Ames. I would've felt better had he said something more to this effect...

The longer this festers, the worse off everyone is. This needs to be addressed at the Big 12 presser Monday. The longer there is no comment from Gene, the longer rumors start to become news and perceived fact. Even admitting some frustrations publicly is better than having no comment for a prolonged period.

To quote from a Crisis Blog I pay attention to for work, the situation should be "corrected by immediate and appropriate action and communication".
