Garage or Backyard?

Things like this skew your answer. If I had that I'd live in the backyard. We had a midsize backyard with no deck and a small patio.
We lived on a cul-de-sac and all of us became great friends. So opening that garage door meant game time. It was like an adult dorm floor, but with kids. Plus in the fall we had bonfires in the street like twice a week and almost daily basketball games.
edit: also lots of things like poker and ping pong being played

Garage and it's not close.
Ours is heated, epoxy floor, has a TV and projector, beer fridge, closer to bathroom, and easier for neighbors to stop by.

The inlaws are more driveway with garage door open while we are back deck. What do those have in common? Both face west and the late afternoon/evening sun.
Garage. A couple TVs, fridge, stereo. And the ability to move some things from one side to the other and tell my wife I'm rearranging.
Big deck next to an in-ground pool. I like my garage, but it doesn't measure up.
Easy, Backyard, I try to avoid the garage as my wife will just complain that it is too messy or unorganized.
I hang out at both My garage is basically my ISU man cave which has Hulu tv, beer fridge and seating for 9 carpeted with Mitsubishi mini split! My backyard is my party place with large patio and pergola with stereo in both! Go Cyclones

The unspoken purpose of the driveway hang is that it's an open invitation to anyone you know who might drive by. If you're on the deck, that's a more private kind of affair.
