Garage or Backyard?

Where do you hang out the most?

Nice weather - driveway or garage with the doors up (if we want shade). We don't have a deck built yet.

Winter & bad weather - garage. We installed a 65" tv in there, Nintendo switch, dart board and when the vehicles aren't in it, it's wide enough to set up corn hole.

We’re pretty evenly split between the two. The back yard/deck/patio face south, so it’s gets hotter than a MFer back there but the kids have the trampoline and swing set and stuff.

The kids also play a lot of basketball, bikes and scooters out the garage way. I also have a decent TV and a clean enough garage to sit and tinker.

I only touch the grass in the backyard when I mow it. If “backyard” includes one of the back decks then that’s my answer.

I'm going to be honest, the hanging out in the garage thing is wild to me. Do you just move the cars out every time you want to hang out, or you have like massive garages?

The cars sit out in the driveway most of the year unless it’s cold or hailing. We only have space for one anyways between my tools/work bench and the kids stuff.

Right, I know what a garage looks like generally, but you don't put cars in there?

We have a deck (with grill, dining table, seating area, & raised garden beds), covered patio (with TV and fire pit), basement (with theater room, pool table, & bar), and a three car “finished” garage.

Ranked from where I spend the most time to least:

1. Deck
2. Basement
3. Patio
4. Garage

We have a 4 car garage, though IMO it doesn't qualify as massive or what we'd really like it to be. It's a double stall (24' deep) with two single stalls (22' deep) on either side. We park our vehicles on one side and have the other side for work bench, tools, garbage cans, mower or snowblower and have almost one stall area to get out the lawn chairs and sit.

So do you garage dwellers manage to avoid ticks even if you have the outside doors open? Guessing the June bugs and mosquitoes come on in.

Been back from walking the dog a couple hours, up to 8 ticks crawling on me so far. At least none have latched on yet today.

Since I did several comprehensive searches, I think they just ride in on the dog since his medication only kills them if they attach, then find a victim not on flea and tick medication. Hard to see on a black dog.

I have one of those garage door screens. They are very handy and keep out all the bugs. Not too hard to roll up if you want to park your vehicle inside.

There's nothing but my tools and crap (and an older tv for football) in my garage so there's nothing to draw children or other adults in my house to the garage. The backyard increases my likelihood of having to interact with others 10 fold.

AKA I hang out in the garage because people leave me the hell alone.
I think I've seen you before......in Grand Torino. :)

Voted garage, but it's probably more driveway than actually in the garage. We'll pull the fire pit out most weekends and hang with some neighbors.

We park both cars in the garage then have the 3rd stall - it's about half full of tools/smoker/bikes but still enough room to sit around if we want to. Also have an old TV out there with a fire stick.

In a new-ish development so don't have a ton of bugs. It is a "conservation community" though, and our backyard backs to prairie so ticks have latched on back there.
