Games Cancelled

Haven't read the entire thread. They can't make up this game AT ALL? With Omaha who is super-close by? Even with next week being so open?

Our guys are going to all get back Monday from break. Omaha plays Thursday. So logistically idk when it would’ve made sense to play the game.

Do you want to throw away Baylor prep time for a game like Omaha?

Playing a real-game IS prep for Baylor in my mind. I think I'd be more worried about a lot of rust before the Baylor game and having King not get more real-game reps. He needs all he can get right now under the lights. I'm in the camp that thinks we need all the W's we can get too. (I think this team will end up 7-11 or 8-10 in league play)

If the team is back on Monday 12/26, they could have set this up for 12/27 and allow Omaha time to get here that Tues. Maybe I'm mistaken?

It would be nice if there was an open week in Big 12 play where we could have these guys come over to Ames mid-conference season and paste them a lot like SEC football does in late-season.

This is unfortunate. Really unfortunate.

I'm sure EIU is super glad they got their game in. Weird crap happens in times like these. Glad we didn't play with the guy's mid on so many other things.

If it came down to the players being able to get out to see family before today/this morning then it's understandable and a good move. However, the weather at 8 pm last night wasn't bad.

No, we didn't get what was predicted. However, have you ever tried to fly out of DSM when it's this cold & snowing? I have. And they are NOT equipped well to keep planes rotating through there.

10 days or 13, being rusty is possible no matter what.

Conversely they could play a really good game and then come out flat vs. Baylor.

Things CF would have struggled with last night if the game were played:
--someone tweaks a calf, shouldn't have played the game.
--Gabe and Caleb played too much, they'll now be tired for conference season.
--Eli King didn't play enough.
--something about attendance or lighting.

Haha I'm well versed in flying out of Des Moines in sketchy weather. Unless things have changed they have one crew/one truck to de-ice and it takes FOREVER

To note:
1. Eli King didn't play at all. Recurring problem, probably double-sub-secret probation on a program out of control.
2. Actual attendance of zero looks terrible. Maybe TJ lost the fanbase completely.
3. It seemed completely dark. Looks like JP is so cheap he wouldn't even turn on the lights. How will fans see the games, and how many injuries will this cause?

Serious notes for a serious situation.

I have no problem with game being canceled. It's JP's job (and the Omaha AD's) to use the best information available to make what they believe is the best decision for their teams, staffs, and fans.

I do wish the game could have been played. It's 13 days between games. 20 days with only one game. If nothing else, the team should be excited to play Baylor!

Yup!

We were flying to Okinawa in 2016 for Christmas. Subzero weather. All of the diesel in the fueling trucks froze except for one, and he was doing his best to get everyone fueled but it was REALLY slow. Then once we had fuel in the plane, we had to wait our turn for the de-icer. Four hours on the ground, but at least we were waiting in the terminal and not on the plane! Needless to say, we missed our connection in Denver. Took us three days to get to Okinawa...but we got to spend two nights in San Francisco on the airline's dime, so a full day to play around there soothed our ruffled feathers, and we were STILL at the son's house before Christmas Eve.

Ideally, we would play a game before Dec 31 against Baylor. But players have families they would like to spend the Christmas Holiday with. We have players from NJ, Detroit, Wichita, Lexington, etc.

So giving them the chance to drive/fly home before the storm hits is the wise thing from a travel logistics standpoint. And more importantly, the Compassionate thing to do. To expect players to fly back on Christmas is stupidity. Which is what it would require for ISU to play Tue/Wed next week.

Plus, prep for the Baylor game on Saturday should be our priority upon their return.

where do you live? Roads were pretty bad in Ames then, Ames PD was telling people to stay in. We got 4-5 inches in like 4 hours here.
