Game day changes 2009-2010

1.Either sit Jeff Johnson down, or decrease his field time to just 1-2 cheers.
2.Go back to the hillside walk. Find some sort of canopy that will form a "tunnel" along side the Jacobson down the hill.
3.Leave the intro music alone...just time it better.
4.Get new speakers, the current ones suck.
5.Stick with the current plan between the 3rd and 4th: Sweet Caroline if ahead, Livin on a Prayer if behind.

I like your way of thinking man, it could be the Iowa State version of frogger, this would be awesome. Plus maybe we could get some product placement cash. Have cars zipping by. Lawn furninture, grills. Those who make it through unscathed, get to start.:jimlad:
 
Jeff needs to take a hike (his timing is never right anyway). I appreciate what he tries to do, but....no

I like the tunnel, and agree the walk down the sidewalk is lame.

Also, play For Whom the Bell Tolls as the intro music

1. Agree.
2. Keep having them come out of the Jacobson Building so everyone can actually see them come out and not just the east siders.
3. Doesn't this change every year?
4. Won't happen until someone wants to pick up the million-plus dollar tab.

I know I will get corrected , but its original, I think we are the only team to use it?

Add some recent big hits, like the Kansas hit of last year, the hit in the Iowa game that was called incorrectly a blow to the head, we had other great hits from last year.:wink:

So keep the song ,
add some current hits and catches,
then at the end when the guitar solo begins.....
start the smoke,
the fans chanting the "CYCLONE....... POWER" after two or three chants,
like a snap count have the players charge onto the field.
Oh yea then WIN the game!!!!!!!!!

I don't hate Jeff Johnson, but could go without as long as we as the fans still did the Cyclone Power cheer. If they can control the amount of smoke coming out of the tunnel than its not but most of the time it gets out of control.

I've had thoughts of #2 for quite some time. I kinda wish they would just enclose that sidewalk so it is a tunnel. And so as not to just have a cement wall right by the hillside make the East facing wall all windows so those on the hillside can see the players coming down. I'm a fan of the smoke (just not too much of it).
 
I think coming out of the Jake, and using the tunnel walk is MUCH better than walking down the side of the building. Only the east side could see it, and IMO it was more bush league than the phallic tunnel/helmet. Lose the smoke and just have them coming out the middle of the Jake running through the band.

Also, props to the guy who thought up having them secretly enter through the student section. That's freakin brilliant.
 
I always like the walk down the side of the Jacobson building, especially with Mac leading the way. He had a prescence and always looked as ready to play as the players.

Most of the stadium can see them once the get to the corner of the building but if that is a major concern, put it on the big screen like the did with the inside walk of the Jake the last 2 years.
 
Why can't we have a tornado siren through the stadium speakers? That would be unique.
 
Those of you wanting the walk down the side back are out of your minds. That was complete bush league. As al 4 state said, keep it coming out of the Jake and just pass on the smoke. Everyone can see where they are running that way and it still centralizes the entrance to the field.

I with most that say keep the pre-game cheer simply to Cyclone Power (and we don't need Jeff Johnson to start that...cheerleaders with signs will do).

Sweet Caroline only if we WIN the game...never during whether we are ahead or not.
 
I agree on the Jeff Johnson consensus. Also, the crowd really gets into Cyclone Power but not so much on the other chants. Why can't we just do Cyclone Power for 5 minutes straight instead of changing it around?
 
1. No Jeff Johnson. Anyone else noticed our opponents' fans mocking the forced cheers? I appreciate his enthusiasm, but it's quite bush league. If the cheerleaders would lead the CYCLONE POWER cheer and keep it going for several minutes, that could turn out to be pretty cool.

2. If there is anyone on this board associated with the marching band, please tell your superiors they need better coordinatation with the PA announcer. There seems to be no communication between the two at all and it's been going on for years.
 
Out of the middle of the Jacobsen Bldg, no tunnel. If/when they build the South Endzone expansion, move the entrance to that side. Keep the pre-game cheers to just the Cyclone Power - that in itself has become a tradition, everything else has fallen flat. I'm not opposed to keeping Sweet Caroline, just don't play it as the song that leads into the 4th quarter - play something that's going to get the crowd amped.

How about not playing Sweet Caroline so you can start your own tradition by singing it and see how many people join in? It is beyond comprehension why anyone would still want this song played during the game -- especially when ISU is trailing.

The marching band has direct communication with those up in the press box at all times as soon as they step onto the field. So I would guess that the better coordination needs to come from those in the press box.

My view on the topic is that we should leave the entry the same as until we can afford more renovating the tunnel through Jacobson is as good as it's gonna get. As far as JJ goes, I think he does need to step down and I think they are working on it. IMO he wasn't out there or yelling quite as much last year as previous years. So I would assume he is getting phased out now that everyone is catching on.

Also for those of you that want the Cyclone Power cheer to go on for more than a minute or two, the current crowd can't do it for more than like 30seconds before it dies out cause the student section speeds way up while the rest of the stadium doesn't so it sounds stupid and dies out.
 
Does anyone like Jeff Johnson's cheers? Also, on the UNI entrance it would be way sweeter if they had a real panther run on the field
