Fun thread on Hawkeye website

The tourney isn't getting press. The reaction of an idiotic fan base to the tourney run is what is getting a lot of press on this site. We all like our share of entertainment. And Iowa fans never disappoint us.

I beg to differ. There is 8 pages worth of threads dedicated to Iowa basketball since last night. I still have not seen any Iowa fan wishing they'd win the NIT rather than make the NCAA. This is starting to become an urban legend facilitated by roughly 3% (if that) of the CF poster population.

And, the fact that you're getting your panties in a bunch over an "idiotic fanbases" excitement over, you know, winning games, is pretty funny. I feel sorry for you that your emotions are controlled by the joy/displeasure of others. It must really suck to get so angry by other people being so happy.

I don't think threads mocking a fan base for their overwhelming joy about their run in the Not Important Tournament counts as press. Lol
You're right, Iowa fans should just go back to being indifferent towards the basketball program so that people can make fun of Carver being a mortuary again. It baffles me how a fanbase can feel any sort of happiness watching their program reach 25 wins (good for 2nd in total number of wins in a season in the history of the program).

It takes a big man to admit this. We're all proud of you.

Whether you agree with him or not, the ring leader of the biggest fan base site for your beloved Hoks said it...how is that an urban legend?

Jon Miller ‏@HawkeyeNation19h
This yr and where program is? NIT final. “@QuinnBehrends: so would you rather have this or one and done in NCAA tourney?”

So now you can pick and choose the Jon Miller quotes you want to use as long as they fit your argument?

he also said Iowa would compete for the national title in 2010, and that didn't turn out to be true either.

No you said you didn't know one fan that said that and it was made up on here. Just proving you wrong again since you make it so easy

Right. Well that question is asking one and done vs. winning the NIT. Which is a valid question. If you had to choose watching ISU play - and guaranteed lose - one more game or win 5 more to end the season, there is no doubt in your mind that you'd choose one and done? Even for a young team? Seems a little short sighted to me.

I, and most Hawk fans would take the NCAA in a heartbeat. But if it was guaranteed that Iowa would lose in the first round... that's an entirely different discussion.

Once again, I'm not sure what is being argued here. Seems like a lot of folks are ****** off that Iowa fans are enjoying the end to this season. I still don't understand why. I get it that you think Iowa fans actually would take the NIT over the NCAA, but that's, for lack of a better word, stupid (and untrue).

Just sticking up for my fellow CF posters when you throw untrue accusations against us. The best part is it wasn't even about winning the NIT he even chose just making the finals over the NCAA

I don't mind the Hawks being excited for their season. This is the first season in a long time they have something watchable. I don't mind the team at all but the fans next year will be so insufferable. They might be getting a little to much joy from beating teams that were deemed not tourney worthy but the Hawks are showing a lot of promise and could have a good year ahead of them.

Ah, your fellow CF posters. Remember, I was talking about the 3% who seemingly are butthurt beyond belief that Iowa fans are enjoying the post-season success in the NIT - and making every attempt possible to belittle it in every way imaginable.

I'm sure those fringe posters (remember, I'm talking about a very small fraction here) are thrilled you're here to stick up for them.

Now this makes a lot of sense. And I do agree that there will be insufferable fans. Unfortunately, that comes with any fanbase. Luckily, the mods here do a good job of weeding out the trolls.

I agree that every fanbase has them. I'm around the northwest corner of IA and the Hawk fans around here are very homerish. They basically think since Ohio St only beat us by 3 they would have won that game. The Des moines Hawk fans were at least realistic. I want to see the Hawks do well but dread the fans talking about it.

Ill take the one and done every time. You get way more national publicity in the 2nd round of the NCAA then you would get in a championship run in the NIT. Also I would rather have a younge team that was good enough to make the NCAAs than not make it and gain "experience" in the NIT.

The people claiming they would take an NIT title before an NCAA 1 and done are probably the same ones who'd rather schedule a team like Texas A&M Corpus Christi (guaranteed win) than schedule good team (game could go either way).

Iowa guys are owning this thread. Nationally, nobody really cares about either team right now, so who cares if they enjoy watching their team play while hoping for good things next year.

Plenty of people seem to be caring about Mr Hoiberg lately. I don't think you can really pair Iowa and Iowa State together at this moment. Iowa has some catching up to do.
