How about an actor that never fits a specific role perfectly...My vote is Gary Oldman. Does anyone actually know what he looks like? I swear he can play a million different characters.

Thanks so much to @jbindm for this idea!!
He was thinking about actors who nailed a role so well that when you see them in anything else you still only think of them in that signature role. I think an obvious one is Daniel Radcliffe - he's worked so hard to have a diverse career, but he's always going to be Harry Potter.
He had a very prominent role in Forbidden Planet that I remember well.

The flipside is when you see some guy that you have known as a TV comedian in a serious role and they are so good at it you forget the comedic past and totally buy and see them in their new role. Tom Hanks, of course, and also Robin Williams. To a lesser extent Will Smith. Early career Jack Lemmon, from when I was a kid, was mostly in movie comedies and farces and than dropped Days of Wine and Roses on us.
It took me years before I could think of Keanu Reeves as anyone but Ted "Theodore" Logan

For someone that people claim is such a wooden actor he's had a real nice career. I need to see the last 2 Wick movies. I really liked the first and just never got around to seeing the second.Yeah, Keanu is an interesting one because he's famous across different age demographics, all for different characters. I'm 40, so I'm partial to Bill and Ted or Point Break. For someone a little younger the go-to might be Speed. And then a little younger, Neo. And for the much younger the main reference point is probably John Wick.

Roger Moore as only James Bond
