Friday OT - Most random location?

2012 PGA Championship, Kiawah Island, Charleston, SC. I had my Iowa State hat on and visited with four Cyclone fans that day.

While I was in grad school at Mizzou, I ran into a rather good looking ISU grad who noticed my shirt at the world famous Grotto in faraway Rolla, MO.

I proceeded to put on my charm and do a little peacocking by getting hammered and screaming at the jukebox as to why it did not play the GD Pantera I had requested. She was obviously overwhelmed by my sheer attractiveness and got scared.

If you read this and that was you, PM me!

Ended up working with 2 other cyclone grads on a bridge project in New Orleans for a couple of years. The odd thing? The 3 of us all worked for different companies.

Yet to see any cyclone fans up here in the NY area yet but I'm sure there are some around...

Meeting Coach Fennlley in the Dallas Airport in 2003.

I was flying home from visiting my family and noticed his Iowa State polo shirt. I introduced myself and told him that I was from Iowa and a Cyclone fan. As our flight was boarding I found my seat and sat down a few minutes later Coach Fennelley sat in the seat next to mine.

We talked about lots of things from sports to weather and even family. I had him sign something for my dad who's a huge Cyclone basketball fan (Men's and Women's) which he did as we landed in Des Moines. We wished one another well and went our own ways.

To this day, every time there is a Cyclone event in which Coach Fennelley attendance he has always called me by my first name...no matter where we are. Kind of amazing considering all the people he must meet.

I was in Miami with three buddies. We were there for the Miami-FSU game. Iowa State was playing Nebraska in Ames that day.

We showed up early for GameDay. We're walking towards the set and there were two guys from ISU with a bed sheet with "Go Clones. Beat Nebraska" painted on it.

Driving across the Australian Outback on our way to Ayers Rock. Stopped in one of the only habitated places for 100's of miles to get gas, etc. The guy who ran it had a brother who went to ISU so immediately struck up a conversation since I was wearing an ISU tee.

Also, walking down the streets in Lahaina Maui in 1985 we ran into then coach Criner wearing our Cyclone gear. He was also on vacation, it think with the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles at the time (whose name I'm brain farting on right now).

Funny thing: 3 references to Lahaina or Maui in this thread and I don't recall seeing it ever before...and I was there when ISU lost to UNI.
