Friday OT - Most random location?

Farmers market in Anchorage AK. My 7 year old saw a 20 something wearing an ISU shirt. He ran up behind her, tapped her on the shoulder and gave her a high five, said "Go Cyclones!" and ran away.

Saw a hawk fan on a train in Talkeetna AK.

Sending hawk fans on a train to Alaska...interesting.

Inside the Statue of Liberty (which would be cool for a sex thread too...)

When I was in the service we did some training in BFE S. Korea w/ Korean (ROK) Marines. Inside the armory at the US Marine base (which was a concrete bunker) somebody had spray-painted a giant tigerhawk on the wall.

Party at the University of Missouri. It was some old dude in a black Adidas turtleneck. Said he was a coach or something.

Better question might be: what is the most random location where you saw someone wearing Hawkeye stuff and thought "Hey, fellow Iowan, meh, who cares?" and walked away. For me, most everywhere....

Ithaca, NY. They were working on a research project with Cornell.

I've run into plenty of Cyclone fans hiking in the Colorado Rockies.
I was just about to post that we had our picture taken on top of Pike's Peak by a random couple who turned out to be Cyclones from a town only a few miles down the road.

Another random, a few years back Tracy Henderson was the ump for my slow pitch softball game. I didn't recognize him, but we got talking after he saw my Iowa State hat.

Disney World... Right after a random guy came up to me while I was wearing a Cyclones shirt with huge IOWA STATE lettering on the front and says, "Oh a Buckeye fan eh?" SMFH..

The House on the Rock in Wisconsin

Considering that is about the most random place there is I think you win.

My most random sounding is the lobby of a hotel in China. But considering my company hires a lot of ISU grads and does a lot of business there it's probably not that random in reality.

So I'll nominate this one.

Eating at the Heart Attack Grill in Phoenix while wearing an Iowa State shirt. The fry cook looks at me (dressed in surgeon's scrubs in case you have never eaten at a Heart Attack Grill) and says "Did you go to Iowa State? So did I." I asked when and his major. I can't remember the year but he graduated in Computer Science. I must have looked at him kind of funny like "what are you doing here?" when he said the degree, because he replied "I just really like frying hamburgers man."

Small shop in Cottonwood, AZ. A couple walks in and the guy notices my I State shirt and they are Cyclone fans from NW Iowa. A few minutes later, he taps me on the shoulder and asks if I had heard about this and proceeds to show me an article from Cyclone Fanatic on his smartphone. And being the good Cyclone I am, I had already read it that morning before we left the condo.

On our honeymoon in Jamaica at CSA. Ended up playing sand volleyball together. We ran into them again in G7 before the UNI game.

Saw a Chinese guy in the Guangzhou airport wearing an ISU sweatshirt. We yelled 'Go Clones', but he kept walking.

When my sister was vacationing in China a few years ago and sent me a picture from the bar on a cruise boat on the Yangtze River. The condiment jars had ISU Alumni Association stickers on them. Picture was of the Chinese bartender holding up jars and displaying the ISU logo. I think one of the alumni vacation tours must have been on this same cruise boat at some time.

A hostel in Rotorua, New Zealand. I was at the bar and a group of students come walking in all wearing Cyclone shirts. They were on a trip visiting farms. The chaperones went to Iowa State with my Dad and Uncle and knew them very well.

Taught the fight song to a couple of Brits, Germans and Dutch who were also at the hostel bar.

Not a person, but stumbled upon a bar in Florence, Italy with and ISU pennant hung above the bar.

Was walking along the beach in Venice, FL and came a across a happy ISU supporter. She took a picture of my GF and me.
