Since Custer is transferring out, what do you think Fred is going to do? Get an immediate Transfer, pick up a high school point guard or just wait for next years recruits? This will be very important move Fred makes and (of course) I trust in him, I am just curious what peoples predictions are.

Needs to be looking at 16-17 lineup. Naing, McKay and possibly Morris gone. Big shoes to fill.

Transfer, has some flexibility to get a guy that will sit out next year now.

Well...if a 5th year player with the talent level of BDJ or Kane comes out, I hope Fred goes after them IF they have no bad history.

If not, I'm sure he spends the three on Diallo, Yakwe, and a transfer forward.

Maybe he's already made his next move.

Maybe Custer knew about it and it felt to him as if he may find it harder and harder to get good mins and that's why he left.

I have nothing to back this up, but it wouldn't surprise me if in a few days/ weeks we start to know of someone heading our way.

We can't get Yakwe in 2015, we have to hope he goes to prep school and we can get him in 2016. FWIW the staff believes he'll go to prep school

What comes in my mind is Niang is gone after next year and we need a point guard under Morris so that he gets experience. honestly, I would look for another one like niang.

Why are people so negative on this place nowadays?

**** I had to sit through the McDermott years.

We sucked and we were boring. At least Morgan's teams were interesting.

I hate to see Custer go... cool name, needed a second true PG, probably had time coming his way if he developed, but being stuck behind Monte Morris has to be rough... but, hey, I'd rather the back-end of our roster turns over than the front end (no more Wesley Johnson incidents).

That would be the equivalent of Niang or Morris leaving NOT to go to the NBA.

And Fred isn't leaving. He's set for life in Ames and he knows it. :)

Some happy kittens to make us feel better...

I would imagine we are back in the market for some PG depth, either JUCO or transfer.

Why not Yakwe in 2015? I understood before because we didn't have a scholly, but now we would be able to take him. Unless I have missed something??

ISU hired Tim Mannix as a graduate assistant in video editing and player development this past summer. Mannix had previously worked with Yakwe as a coach in the Team Scan AAU program in New York. Under NCAA legislation, programs that hire former AAU coaches to positions below that of an assistant coach position are unable to recruit players that staff member has worked with for two years. Yakwe moving to 2015 would be inside that window.

With Custer leaving, I wonder if Fred maybe takes another gander at Nick Noskowiak. I know that there's been interest there in the past. He'd sit out a year.
