Fred Hoiberg Assisant coach at ISU

It was rumored after Morgan was fired that he wanted to be the coach, but as far as i know he never interviewed or talked to JP about it. I believe there was a story in the Rag quoting him saying he had thought about coaching after his NBA career. It would be cool to see the Mayor on the bench again, but at the same time, I wouldnt want to give up a member of the coaching staff we have now for him just because he was a great player.
how do we know he is head coach material, just because someone was a great player does not mean they will automatically be a great coach. dont get me wrong, I'd love to see him coaching at ISU, but only if he is actually a good coach. But I agree that if he was a coach at ISU I would see him as a head coach over an assistant coach. I just dont see it happening any time soon.
i LOVE fred hoiberg, but perhaps i should clarify. i think he would need some coaching experience prior to iowa state taking him on as it's head coach. i just don't see him as an assistant coach at the college level. he should not be gifted a job without proving himself on some level to be an effective coach.

I love my brother Brett, so do a lot of other people, and he played basketball in High School. Does that mean he will make a great head coach?
wow, someone is grumpy for a friday afternoon.
fred has an excellent basketball knowledge. not only was he one of the more accurate 3-pt shooters, he had some of the best court presence ever. remember the bball game at colorado when fred inbounded the ball to justice thigpen?? there were somethign like 2.4 seconds on the clock, he got the ball to thigpen for the game winning 3.

I could only wish Amyk33 to be my girlfriend....she is the sparkly parts of fairy dust mind you...and has more knowledge of sports then I do..(how sad)....and I cannot believe she is not snatched up as of yet. I am quite sure her post box is stuffed to the gills with PM's from the citizens of this board.

I see him being an assistant or head coach elsewhere and then a possible head coach at ISU. I can't imagine him as an assistant at ISU. The head coach would always be looking over his shoulder wondering when he is going to get shoved out of the way - like Douglas and Sanderson.
