Fred > Fran

Honestly that FAMU game will be nothing more than a blip on the radar in the middle of what will be an underwhelming season in Iowa State history. This is not a good ISU team, probably not even going to the NIT. If we had been ranked or had some kind of tournament aspirations at the time of the game, sure, it would have singed the memory banks a bit more. But no, a bad ISU team lost to another bad team on 12/31/19. Nobody will remember it. Only thing that really sucked about it is that it confirmed just how bad this ISU team is. I would have to think Iowa fans would be a little disappointed we lost that one, inching our way out of the category of what few decent wins they have.

Things Nebraska is doing better than ISU in basketball:

1) Lighting. The full lighting of the arena made the stadium look alive; the new ISU lighting makes the arena look tired and lack of energy. Bring back the old ISU Hilton lighting.

2) Assistant Coaches. Nebraska does not have much for talent, but you can see the influence of their seasoned assistant coaches teaching their players throughout the game.

3) Offensive Scheme: It was fun to watch an offense again based on ball movement and passing rather than setting a screen on the guard and let him hesitate dribble to a shot. When Fred's recruits start coming in, Nebraska basketball will be fun.

Do you know if Nebraska's lighting is any different than ISU's? I thought Creighton's camera work on FS1 was better than Nebraska's last night.
Doc looked like a slob in his seat last night. He was leaned back like he just got done at an Italian restaurant.
I haven't watched a lot of Nebby basketball this year but their offense last night didn't overly impress me. I though their double teams of Garza and Iowa clanging 3s lost them the game.

I get the FAMU game may not have a huge impact assuming we don't make the tournament, but it was literally the biggest upset per ESPN BPI since the metric was established in 2008. It was still historically bad.

This is the definition of a little brother thread. Tough year for ISU basketball but this may be reaching new heights....or depths depending on which way you look at it.

I see you're still upset from that Quad 3 loss last night

I have a hard time taking a Hawk fan who comes to an Iowa State message board to tell us how obsessed we are seriously.

Wasnt a good night, that is certain. I dont know if I have ever seen an Iowa team miss 29 three point attempts and a lot of them were wide open looks. Not to mention the free throw disparity. Frustrating game to say the least.

If we win 8 more games the rest of the way in the regular season we will be in the dance which is all you can hope for at this point.

No a true little brother thread is someone starting up an "I'm done trolling thread" to only be banned a half dozen more times after that. That was a good one.

I wish Prohm could get us elevated for "Superbowls" like Fred could. Off the top of my head, here's Fran's resume win list:

Fred Hoiberg

Steve Prohm

Tom Izzo

Roy Williams

Jim Boeheim

John Beilein

Thad Mata

Matt Painter

Bo Ryan

Tom Crean

Ben Jacobson

Not sure you guys have the players to get 8 more wins

But at least we saw the passing of the basketball, effective spacing of players, and many open three point opportunities. vs. dribbling at the top of the key, wait for your center to set a screen, have the center roll to the rim and wait on the guard to either shoot or try some jump pass....and that is our offense!

If ISU didn't have haliburton and his talent...how bad would we be this year?

I haven't seen this place this happy since before Christmas. Leave it to the the mayor of Ames to finally get the Clones back on track last night.

They really needed that win last night for their new team that Hoiberg coaches. I don't blame them.
